No Tree Fu Toms in our Poundland . In fact they sell very few toys. I still came out with several bargains though!

WOW! I know this is a local thing but, as you all know, we live very close to Heathrow airport. Our double glazing is old and was originally quite cheap anyway as were a lot of things in here when we moved in and started noticing how shoddy things were. We were told that the company that owns the airport would pay 50% of the cost of replacement windows. The man came around today and just sent a quote.
3 x double windows in three panes which fully open for cleaning (err what is that cleaning stuff?), 2 x windows in two panes, 2 x single frosted panes in hall plus upvc window sills ............. £1362. This includes acoustic something or other thingies which you can change to suit the temperature when all windows are closed, sort of seperate air conditioning without the enormous cost. it is supposed to also include roof insulation but the quote hasn't mentioned that so we will ask the question. The cost of the scaffolding which is over three thousand will be covered by the airport. The man asked about a new front door but husband said that we only had a new door about six or seven years ago after a burglar had smashed it down. The man said they had no need to bash the door down as the windows we have will clip out from the outside SHOCK FLIPPING HORROR!
We are very pleased with the quote. We have the second quote person coming on Thursday. We were both thinking it would cost us about 3.5K so we were really pleased with the cost. Need to ask about the roof insulation and have decided to ask for a quote for the door as well. The one we have is half glazed. When it was replaced I asked for a full door but they wouldn't let us under the terms of the insurance so if we can get a good door at a good price we will do it.
what a result eh? We haven't discussed timings or anything, I am guessing though that this will be happening at the cold bit of the year. Oh and we talked about it and decided that as our stairs are very twisty at the top and the last time we had new sofas we had to pay to have the windows taken out in the sitting room to get new sofas in we would look for new sitting room furniture too and take delivery when the windows are being done!!!! Woo hoo. Thank goodness the mortgage is nearly at the end or we would be facing bankruptcy especially with the kitchen on the new year. Am I going to be able to cope with all of this.......Last edited by ZIZI; 28-09-2015, 08:36 PM.If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

I have just ordered a fleece jacket from Cotton Traders .Its a fleece parker jacket with quilted lining , just what I need when I am going out for walks now that the weather has turned colder. My old fleece jacket ( its about 15 years old, its time I had a new one) is a little worse for wear now that I use it when gardening.
I ordered it because with the promotional code it was £25 instead of £50 . Here is the code if anyone is interested . You don't have to use it on the fleece , it can be used on any thing on their web site ...... 735E
Bring me sunshine in your smile.
