I think everyone here would say family is the most important thing to us. After all none of us would be here on this forum but for a love of grandchildren
However friends are important too. They support you, they have fun with you, they give you other points of view outside of your family, and if they are in your age group they understand many references that younger generations don't!
We are lucky in having a good circle of close friends.
Two of our best are C and P, a married couple. C and I met at school aged 11 and I met P when we were 16.
We have grown up together, become parents and grandparents. OH and they get on really well.
They are such dependable, good people, and we have fun with them too.
Yesterday they drove OH to collect my car. Well over an hours drive away. They would take no petrol money. I knew they wouldn't, but OH tried her best to make them!!
We gave them lunch when they got back, but that is little reward. They once decorated a room for my mum and she said she had to virtually lock them in to get them to take any money!!
The fact that I have them is making it possible for me to go to Florida on a family holiday, knowing they are there for mum.
We will take them a couple of bottles of wine and maybe some flowers next time we see them. They will appreciate those and although they will object they will accept them.
Feeling Blessed, as they say on FB
