Good friends where would we be without them?!

I think everyone here would say family is the most important thing to us. After all none of us would be here on this forum but for a love of grandchildren
However friends are important too. They support you, they have fun with you, they give you other points of view outside of your family, and if they are in your age group they understand many references that younger generations don't!

We are lucky in having a good circle of close friends.
Two of our best are C and P, a married couple. C and I met at school aged 11 and I met P when we were 16.
We have grown up together, become parents and grandparents. OH and they get on really well.
They are such dependable, good people, and we have fun with them too.

Yesterday they drove OH to collect my car. Well over an hours drive away. They would take no petrol money. I knew they wouldn't, but OH tried her best to make them!!
We gave them lunch when they got back, but that is little reward. They once decorated a room for my mum and she said she had to virtually lock them in to get them to take any money!!
The fact that I have them is making it possible for me to go to Florida on a family holiday, knowing they are there for mum.
We will take them a couple of bottles of wine and maybe some flowers next time we see them. They will appreciate those and although they will object they will accept them.

        Same here ,
D & J are our very dear friends and without them when B was in hospital all those weeks I would have been lost ,
Its nice that they are also our SIL's parents and co Grandparents to our GS1 ,
They are there at a drop of a hat for us and we are there for them , Family are wonderful but friends are something else

Good friends are worth their weight in gold. I know I value mine.

Gem - what a lovely pair of friends.

We've got several friends who are just like them, and in some cases we're separated by great distances, but they're always there for us, are great fun and life would be so much poorer without them.

Plant - that is so sad. If a member of your family passes away everybody sympathises and offers to help if they can, but I think when the person you've lost is a friend people don't always understand it can be just as hearbreaking as losing a relative. The sense of loss is just the same. Sending hugs. xxx

Plant, It is sad. My auntie has lost all her friends, and all her siblings (she was second to youngest of 8)

My mum is so fortunate to be 91 and still have her oldest friend living.
