Nana, I have never smoked but have seen how hard it is to stop. I'm glad I never started because I don't know if I would have been able to give it up! Good for you doing it (before the days of E cigs) and yes, it shows you have willpower.

Granma2aj, good luck with the fitbit! My OH got a free version from Cotton Traders.

I got weighed this morning and have put a couple of pounds on. We did nothing but eat in Edinburgh, so I'm not surprised really.

Gem if OH can get out on to the golf course she'll clock up loads of steps! (by the way, I forgot to say well done to her and her golf partner on beating 28 other pairs!)

granm2aj - I think 10,000 is quite a distance! I sometimes check on my phone but as I don't carry it round the house it doesn't notice how many times I've run up and down stairs!!

I haven't gained or lost since the 28th, but I find it hard to be totally sensible when I'm looking after the GDs. Yesterday I had an indulgent hot cross bun after lunch!

This week I lost a pound and 3 quarters - why couldn't it have been 2 pounds?! I am pleased with it really, as we had fish and chips for tea on Wednesday. after the long cleaning day at my mum's house.

I bought some little bags of popcorn, in a multi pack. At 60 calories a bag I find they are a reasonably filling snack with far less fat and calories than a biscuit.

I dread getting on the scales tomorrow morning after our 3 day trip, plus we are having a tea (Christmas present) in London on Sunday) DD, Sil Sil's mother and me.

You had a good time, Plant, which is the important thing.
You can soon get back on it!

I haven't made any progress since I lost since the 28th April! But I haven't gained either - so there is hope for me.

I am up about 4 pounds and after the tea yesterday maybe more. I am out to lunch with my bowling friends tomorrow, another day of eating but not drinking.

Plant - I hope your hectic social life isn't to blame for those 4 pounds. But I think if you gain a few pounds quickly it's goes quickly too if you can have a couple of 'good' days.

I'm still stuck at the same weight - I need to be more careful I think! When I'm busy I either don't eat or I snack, and the last few days seems to have been snacks.

Well none of you will recognise me in September if I keep losing weight at this rate. A whole half pound off this week

It sounds as tho' you're all taking it so seriously. Well done. I don't seem to have that determination. My weight hasn't changed since I was weighed at the last weigh-in session. At least there's none gone on. I'm distracted by life's events so I don't think I'm giving it my full attention. I need to be blinkered really. I'm still making 'swops' for things tho'. I made two cakes for a gathering tomorrow but won't be having any. I was actually shocked by the amount of sugar in the mix .

Nana - when life is hitting below the belt, it's hard to concentrate on things like diet, but it sounds as though you are making progress - the comment about how much sugar went into your cakes shows that. Don't try too hard when you've got somuch else to deal with. Gentle, baby steps will get you there just the same. xx
