    Well done co-op

On the news last night the co-op are selling tinned & dry goods that are reaching there best buy date (not use by date ) for 10 pence to save food going to waste just on trial but they hope to roll it nationwide I think it is a good idea will other supermarkets do the same like they have with wonky veg what do you think

We saw this on the news last night. Will certainly help those on a low income.
If the food is perfectly edible, can't see a problem with it.
As for other supermarkets following suit,i'm not sure.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Very good idea Granma2aj. There is such a lot of food wasted.

I read that in the paper and felt well done Co-op. I wonder if they will lose money as people will be spending their money on this food for 10p instead of a full price item.

They said it was a trial but our CO-OP Garage has been doing this with Crisps , Biscuits, and a few other dry goods for a while now , between 10/15 p .
You see quite a few people with children buying the crisps and Biscuits for packed lunch its better than wasting them .

I think it's a good idea - and just an extension of the practice of selling off fresh good that are on their expiry dates - Morrisons are very good - and I am horrified at the amount of food we as a nation throw away. Anything that helps that and helps families who are really struggling is good.
