Plant, my late sister loved Turkish Delight, I could never eat it, come to think of it, with jelly the same.

Lizzie I could eat a bowl of jelly all to myself , love a trifle too .

Another thing I don’t really like but eat them is Extra strong mints you know the kind that look like big alka seltzer tablets,
B loves them so often buys them and I find myself taking little nibbles of one , why I don’t know but I feel compelled to take one and nibble till it’s finished 🙄

I don't like almond either. Hubby loves it.
          I don't eat fresh fruit,but i like tinned fruit.
Love anything chocolate. I can eat a bar of fruit and nut, that usually has almonds.
The chocolate seems to hide the taste of the almonds.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Almond taste and marzipan seem to divide us, don't they.

I love marzipan, but OH hates it. This is good because he always gives me his off the Christmas cake!

At last, I've found someone who likes coconut Quality Street - Gem, they're all yours and S's! QS strawberry creams are the best as they're dark chocolate - mmmmmm ...

Changing Oma's original question slightly - if you are, say, visiting friends for a meal do you eat whatever is served, even if it's something you dislike, or do you say (politely) that you don't like it?

If we're serving ourselves I just quietly avoid the item I don't like and don't say anything, but if it's already served on to my plate I just eat it anyway, because I don't like to say I don't like it.

                    I always eat everything.
The exceptions being beef or chili as they would make me Ill.

I have managed to force down several foods which I would prefer not to eat!

I try to eat anything that's put down to me if I don't know the person well ,
If its someone I do then I am ok saying I don't like it and usually they know anyway.

I never clear a plate with any food to be honest , The odd meal i have if i have really enjoyed it
We had a meal with the Gems that S cooked and it was delicious I cleared my plate that day .

Oma, my DIL2 is the same - she hardly ever clears her plate completely. I don't often leave any, especially if someone else has been kind enough to cook for me.

I prefer to serve myself if eating with a group, DD always puts it in dishes.

I think that's a good idea Plant, we usually do that.
Easier for people with smaller appetites. And larger ones come to that!

If we're having visitors for a roast dinner, OH likes to carve the meat at the table (he's good at it) so I always put everything in dishes so people can help themselves.
