Thanks Daisy. I'll give it a go.
Just had a lightbulb moment🤯I'll look in my cupboard for the bread maker recipe bk & see if there's a soda bread recipe in there. I'll also look online to see what the ratio of lemon juice to milk is to make buttermilk. I've never seen it in the shops.

I love buttermilk, when my mother used to visit, she always asked which milk for her tea! Often ended up getting the wrong one and having to start again.

Nana - have you tried making soda bread yet? Just wondering.

Oh, Nana, what a pity. I do wish people would stop this awful panic-buying. It's getting beyond a joke.

Cleaned out the freezers today and was amazed at what food there was! there may be some interesting combinations in the weeks and months to come, but we're not going to starve! One of DS's friends who lives down the road has started a side line in potatoes. His friend has a farm in the Fens and normally exports his potatoes to Ireland, but as the borders are closed, he's stuck with them. DS's friend put a notice on the local FB page and sold 40 bags, so got in 100 and sold them within 3 hours and another load today was going like hot cakes! 25kg for £10 seemed like a good bargain to me, so I've got loads of potatoes to eat in as many different ways as we can!

I even found a couple of bread mixes in the cupboard, not quite in date, but handy to have.
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

How enterprising WeeG. Lateral thinking in times like this. I hadn't thought to look for bread mix either. Thanks.

We are short of tinned tomatoes, but its not an essential. I am hoping now stores are implementing restrictions things will settle down and we will be able to walk into shop and actually buy what we want and need.

I should always be able to get bread. Thomas The Baker in our village is accepting phone calls up to 2.30pm each day , for orders of bread and presumably anything else you fancy, to be picked up the next day.
We also have a specialist bakehouse here in the village, who supply restaurants and delis thought the region, who are still baking and selling in the the shop. They are limiting to one loaf per customer for now though.

I've probably got enough bread flour to last until I can get more.

Sainsbury's are rationalising their store opening hours from Monday (23rd) to 8 am to 8 pm Monday-Sat and starting on Monday 8am-9am on Mondays, Weds and Fridays will be for over 70s and key workers only. Key workers will have to show their NHS id.

The Co-op had pallets of tinned food, they hadn't had time to put it on the shelves. GD said when they get back from Cornwall, that she will bring me shopping back from Waitrose, that will save my DD from doing it.

We have finally got some paracetamol! A kind friend dropped some off. Every shop we tried over several trips were devoid of it.
