Just looked it up and it is made with ground rice, custard powder and milk. Never had it but it sounds good. I remember having ground rice at school with jam.
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare
You make it like custard, mixing the dry ingredients with hot milk. It's a kind of delicious textured thick custard, eaten warm. With jam, as Plant says, or by itself.
I could happily eat it for breakfast Daisy

Oh I had forgotten that , I can picture it now in the bowl with a dollop of Jam sitting in the middle , loved it very creamy ,
I wonder if we would enjoy the taste today though ? our pallets are very different now but I think I would
I used to buy this when the kids were little.
It must be 20+ years since i've seen it.
When i was little,my granny used to make ground rice tarts.
Very similar to maids of honour tarts.
Over the years i have tried recipes from the internet.
Sadly none of them are as i remember granny's tarts.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
Mimi - thanks for the recipe. I don't remember ever having it, but it does sound quite nice - a comforting pud for a cold day.
Nanto - isn't it disappointing when recipes don't turn out like we remembered them. I was given a chocolate cake recipe many, many years ago, and it was the best chocolate cake I've ever had - and I've lost the recipe! I can remember the butter cream had sherry in it, but that's all.

No, ours were past the age of cooking with mummy, but I do remember hearing about it. What was it like? We often use mayonnaise instead of butter or spread on sandwiches, especially those with salad in them.
