I adore nearly all cheese! The more the merrier (and that's not because of port with the Silton!). But, I met my first cheese enemy a little while ago. A friend who has a taste for cheese with sweet things in them had chocolate cheese. Not lumps of chocolate made to look like Brie or whatever, but cheese with a chocolate flavour. Two good things ruined as far as I was concerned.

I think I might feel the same about sticky toffee cheese.

After our hospital visit today we went to Waitrose to buy ourselves a treat or two. I had a notion for a ploughman's but couldn't find what I wanted ( don't like any soft/blue cheeses so choice is fairly limited!) and ended up with some Edam and a baguette, still warm from baking. I did enjoy it when we got home though. My Gran'dad would only eat mature cheddar with the rind on from one particular grocer in town! His Sunday tea was roasted cheese and raw home grown onions! And he had no teeth, but very strong gums! I used to enjoy the Gouda with cumin when we lived in Holland and managed to get some when we were in Amsterdam earlier this year...even managed to buy it in Dutch!

Wee Granny your Granddad must have loved his cheese and raw onions. Well done on buying your Amsterdam cheese in Dutch - it always looks such a difficult language.

I had a toasted brie, bacon and onion marmalade toasted sandwich when we went out for lunch yesterday

WG what an interesting story. I had forgotten about my Dad loving cheese & raw onion sarnies. I didn't know you lived in Holland.
