    Lost ring

I have my fathers gold signet ring, which he wore as a wedding ring. This is the only thing I have of my dads, when he died everything passed to mum. She gave me his ring though, and I wear it on my right hand ring finger. I don't always wear it, as I have other rings which fit that finger which I like to wear. When I'm not wearing Dads ring I either put it in a wooden jewellery box I have or leave it on my dressing table or on the bedside table. I wear it at least a couple of times a week.
I particularly wanted to wear it on Dads birthday (June 22nd) but couldn't find it. I still can't find it. I have looked in all the usual places, and many others as well.
I am so upset that I can't find it, and don't know what to do. Soon mum will notice that she hasn't seen me wearing it for a while and will be comment then I know she will be really upset.
I keep looking and intend to search the house top to bottom tomorrow.

Gem could it have gone behind the bed or under it , Do you have a headboard ? Why I ask that is once I lost a bracelet and it had gone down the back of bed and was wedged in the bit where the headboard slots onto the bed , I couldn't see it when bed was pulled out it was when we were decorating and took headboard off that it was found ,
Is it possible the little ones have had it ? Look in toy box,s
I do hope you find it I know I would be gutted if it was my Dad's , xxxx

I was going to suggest that your GS might have hidden it, he is a bit of a rascal.

Gem I completely know how you feel.Could it have slipped off your finger without you knowing in which case it could be anywhere but if it is one you have to pull off can you remember when you last wore it?That might help you think where you were when you took it off. I do hope you find it.x

I know it sounds daft Gems but do you know any youngsters who have a mini metal detector DD used one when she lost a charm off her bracelet and found it wedged againt the carpet edge and the bedroom wall totally out of sight.

Oh Gem, i do hope you find it. When my sister in law was married for the first time, she lost her engagment ring in the garden.
My hubby went with his metal detector and evenyually found it. Although i know your ring could be anywhere.
It will probably be somewhere where you thought it couldn't get.

I guess you've been through all pockets Gem but have a look in your dressing gown pocket.

Oh, Gem, I can imagine how upset you must be. Is it possible you were wearing it when you got undressed and it got caught up in the folds of a garment. I'm sure it will find its way back to you, because it is so important.

I once lost my wedding ring in a hotel room. I know I'd left it on the dressing table (I don't sleep in it as it makes my fingers itchy) and we searched high and low. Then OH moved the dressing table out from the wall and it dropped to the floor - it had lodged between the wall and the leg of the dressing table.

As Nanto says, it will turn up. It sounds as though it is somewhere in the house. The metal detector sounds a good idea. xx

Oh Gem that's so disappointing, have you tried the back of the sofa ?
Is the ring a loose fit, could it have slipped off when you were putting out washing or doing some jobs outside?

                          THE RING IS FOUND!!!

It is on my finger as we speak I was so pleased to see it again.

Thank you all for your suggestions. They really helped, it is always good to have someone else's input. I was going to look into the metal detector idea if it didn't turn up today.

I took everything off my dressing table and laid it on the bed. I had searched there several times, and OH had a really good look. I searched though all boxes etc, put all earrings on a sheet of paper on the bed to pair them all up. While doing all this I saw it. Sitting in the middle of the bed on the duvet cover. OH was amazed when I told her. Somehow it was hidden amongst jewellry, and when I put everything on the bed it showed itself!
I don't care where it was, I am just so glad to have found it. And now it goes in the jewellery box where it belongs, whenever I m not wearing it!!
