    My Nephew

Yesterday my oldest Nephew had the same spinal fusion that Brian had and my how times have changed , when Brian had his in the 80,s he was cut across his back from his hip down past his tail bone up to the other hip , had to lie flat on his back for 6 month and then learn to walk again , My Nephew has a 6 inch cut up the middle of his spine bones fused a titanium plate put over them and was on his feet 2 hours after his op ,All being well will be home today . Talking to my Brother last night about it and he said "we'll it was in the dark ages when Brian had his first one and we had just developed tools when he had his second" , he may have a point there hahaha 😂

How wonderful for your nephew, Oma, and all good wishes to him for a speedy recovery It's amazing how things progress isn't it?

How sad B couldn't have benefitted from this though, dark ages indeed!!!

That's amazing Oma. So glad all went well for your nephew.

I always think of my dear Dad who died of cancer in the early sixties aged 48. If that was noadays I'm sure he could have been cured or had his life prolonged.
Advances in medicine just within our lifetime are incredible.

That's wonderful Oma. Hope he continues to do well. I think back to when DH was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes back in the early '70's, things have changed so much since then thank goodness. When I think of the huge needles he had to use then compared to the tiny ones they have now, I can't believe the difference it makes.

Clover my Dad died in 1972 with Cancer he was only 50 I remember there wasn't much treatment in them days , I often wonder what would have been the outcome if they had then what we have now , Medicine and Medical procedures have come a long way in a short time hasn't it

I lost a sister and a brother before they were 30, sister had a blocked intestine and my brother had kidney failure, I feel today they would have survived.

It's marvellous how medicine has moved on ladies pity some of us were born too early for these procedures but that's life I guess, my sis in law had her gall bladder out in the 60's and she was cut from her chest and across her stomach now it's keyhole surgery

It is quite amazing how far the medical world has changed even in the last few years.

Oma - all good wishes to your nephew for a speedy recovery. Medical science is unrecognisable from how it was even 20 years ago.
