That does sound like the solution BL

While we are on this topic, I think my mother forgets she has a daughter!! All her wedding, engagent, eternity rings etc are allocated to the 3 GDs. I don't care as I have my Dads signet/wedding ring. The womens rings may be prettier and maybe worth more, but this one means more to me.

I think the actual value is irrelevant Gem. It is what the item means to you that gives it a high value.

A few years ago I thought I'd lost my wedding ring on holiday and I was surprised how upset I was. My immediate thought was that a replacement wouldn't be the ring OH had put on my finger saying 'with this ring, I thee wed'. I didn't think I was that attached to an item of jewellery. Fortunately it had just rolled off the dressing table and landed out of sight behind a chair leg! So it's definitely not the value - it's the meaning behind that matters, as both BL and Gem say.
