Oma, if they stick with Pond I think in the end the family will just get used to it over time.

My mum did not like the name chosen for my GD and was never going to call her it. She did of course.
A cousin of mine called his son Aaron (pronounced properly as in the Bible, not Arran as some people pronounce it with that spelling!)
A beautiful unusual name, but his GM hated it was was never going to call him it. She even cried about it to his parents! He is in his late 40's now and everyone, including his GM always called him by his name.

Oma, I didn't realise at first but "pond" is the Dutch word for pound.

Thinking about nicknames - Pond/Bond - therefore James!

Let's hope baby Pond is given a really nice middle name.

He isn't getting a middle name Daisy ,
My Sister and Niece were hoping he would and if it was normal they would use that ,

We have done all the jokes Duck Pond , Pond life James Pond 0061/2
Poor child has to get used to that

The jokes made me laugh out loud, Oma, but that is precisely why it's such a cruel name.

There's still time for Mum and Dad to change their minds. (Hopefully!)
