aggie - I know your OH is heavily dependent on you in addition to your childcare duties. I think you should be at the centre of a triple decker sandwich, which can't be easy. xx"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

It's just this week I think.
I've still got it quite easy with Mam being very independent around the house. She won't use the gadgets we've given her, just a walking stick, though I'm sure the three wheeled walker would help.
It can be a 30 mins drive to Mam's and if the appointment is about lunchtime, as most seem to be, it takes up a lot of the day. Then if Rhys has an appointment after school we have to be around to look after Ryan, if it's something he'd be a nuisance at. So sometimes Hubby has to stay at home for Ryan, instead of us being able to do two jobs in town, and save petrol.
Oh the logistics of it all. I thought it was a good idea to live out of town.
We've had Ryan this morning and he's coming for longer tomorrow, and Rhys and Mummy are joining us and staying for "dinner at tea". Daddy's away in China for work I know Mam would like the company, but I'm being selfish as I can't be doing with all the running about. We did take her out for lunch last Sunday.
I'm still in a mardy mood and feeling bad now too.
Let's hope tomorrow brings a better week.

Thank you, they're lovely.
Sorry for ranting , onwards and upwards, bring on a new week and a new start.
Well I can sleep tonight now. I've just rung Mam and invited her to dinner too. Hubby said he'll take her home. I'll get the pots washed and a large glass of wine or something stronger (depends how it goes, with a house full) before he gets back. He'll do the cooking while I fetch her too.
Gosh there's nothing to moan about...

That's a lovely positive way to show you care, GJ. Your mam will enjoy seeing R, R and their mummy, as well as having a lovely meal and chauffeur driven transport. What a good idea to relax over the pot washing with a glass or two of whatever tipple takes your fancy.

Jules, it's hard. We love our parents and want to be there for them, and as in mine and your cases, when one parent is left, they need us more. I never feel I give my mum enough time, but with 2 full GC days, there are only so many hours! You need time for you, and time as a couple.
When my OH retired she was shocked how little free time I had to spend with her. Then she took up golf
We do get together time, but not enough. I hope you manage a lot more“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
