My mum will be 90 next month.
After some discussion with her, I discovered what she would like. A family afternoon tea (at lunch time) at The Hilton hotel. I took her there for her birthday a couple of years ago and she loved it.
So, we have booked it for 1pm on her birthday. She wants her dearest friend (they met aged 7!) to come, and also my auntie, Dad's sister. This makes me happy as I wasn't sure she would ask auntie, but she wants to.
I have contacted mum's friend's daughter, as her friend is quite immobile now and I am hoping her DD will be able to drop her off , help her in and come back for her.
Fingers crossed all goes according to plan.
DD3 of course won't be there, but we can set up a chat between her and mum. I will ask the hotel if I can bring a balloon or two. I think mum would prefer a more discreet Happy Birthday or Congratulation on the balloons rather than 90
