Running along behind here! Welcome Lizzie48!
I have 4 grandchildren, 4, 7, 10, and 12, all fairly local. When I don’t see them in the flesh, we FaceTime. I am training them all to be gardeners and crafters, and I have to report they are all doing well!
It’s a jolly good job I don’t live in Holland, I am no cyclist!
Husband and I went to Maastricht last year to the Andrè Rieu concert. We had a coach tour as well which we thoroughly enjoyed. Holland is a lovely place.
Looking forward to you joining in. 😁

        Hello Lizzie48. It’s a late welcome from me !

I live in Hereford, not far from Wales which holds a very dear place in my heart . Although I was born and brought up in Hereford for a short time in my teens I lived in Barry but came back here after a year as or so .
I live with my husband in a small flat, we downsized from a big 3 bed house 6 years ago as our 3 grown up children had left home and the house became too big for us.
Eldest son is single and lives not too far from us. Second son is married with two children and they also live near us. Youngest daughter is also married with two children and they live in Cardiff.
We have 4 grandchildren, eldest GS is 18 , one granddaughter , 15 and our two youngest grandsons aged 8 and 3 live in Cardiff.

OH is retired but I don’t seem to fit any criteria as I am not working as I foolishly thought I would receive my state pension at the age of 60 . Just another 14 months to wait. !!!

Looking forward to hearing all about you
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Morning, I will try a few answers!!!

Sunshine, how sad to lose a child, so young! Pleased your son is going well after his lung transplant, hear good things about those operations as well nowadays. I almost lost my eldest, a year ago actually, an abdominal aortic aneurysm. He felt ill on the boat home from working in England, thought he had eaten something, to cut a long story short he was rushed to hospital and operated on and had a 20% chance of survival during the operation, luckily, he survived, was in IC a few days then in the hospital for 10 days, he is very lucky to be still with us!!! It does worry me sometimes though, maybe that is how mothers are.

I am fine on my own, keep myself occupied. I cope with the lipedema, wear support tights etc, was warm last week but I do it.

Glam, you have a large family! Then your pets to keep you occupied. You do right to go on holiday, I like short breaks, often take my cycle on the back of my car and go away for a few days here in Holland.
Qwerty, I am a yorkshire lass, just had to turn into a Dutch one to live here!!!! I don't mind the cleaning actually, must be the Yorkshire in us!! Depression it not a nice thing to live with, hope your husband gets the helps he needs. You will enjoy the grandchildren though, they will cheer you up!

See I miss one, Mimi! You have your family to visit as well, do you live far from Cardiff? There have been complaints about the state pension here, which is very good when you get it! I think it is 66 and so many months now. Just found it,
            • n 2020 en 2021 is de AOW-leeftijd 66 jaar + 4 maanden
            • in 2022 is de AOW-leeftijd 66 jaar + 7 maanden
            • in 2023 is de AOW-leeftijd 66 jaar + 10 maanden
            • in 2024 is de AOW-leeftijd 67 jaar
It is built up as so much % from living in the Netherlands from your 15th birthday. I was 21 when I arrived so miss so much but I do have my british state pension built up from my 15th to 21st.

Welcome from me too Lizzie. I'm another Northern lass but don't fit into the cleaning mould. I hate it. The others put me to shame....not😂

I've not posted on here for ages but intend to do a 'catch up' quite soon. Health issues etc. It's lovely to see a new member & from a different country. What a bonus.

I have 2 DDs & 4 GC. Each DD has 2 children each. My GC are 8yrs (boy), 5yrs (boy), 3yrs 7mth(boy) & last but not least a 2 1/2yr going on 60yr old (girl). Eldest DD has oldest & youngest boys. Youngest DD has the 5yr old boy & girl.

I'm not sure how you spell it but I too have lymphedema in both legs. I wear support stockings but unlike you have had to leave them off this last two weeks. In fact I'm off to the clinic tomoro. I really admire that you persevere in that heat.

I will have to look up the difference between lymphedema (sp?) & Lymphoma. Former ~ water retention. Latter ~ blood related? Not sure.

I knit toys, make celebratory embroideries.... baptism, births, weddings, birthdays etc, free motion sewing. I'm never happier than when I have a craft project on the go. The one I'm on now is a quilt for my DD2. She asked me to make one using a couple of bags full of her DDs 1st yrs clothes. Now there's a challenge. What are your hobbies?

I'm pleased to welcome you & can't wait to hear your news.

Hallo Nana, I can knit and sew, but, I have a friend and she does everything there is to do, has stalls at fayres etc. She has an embroidery machine and a machine that cuts letters, figures etc out of plastic to iron or press onto anything at all, I hope you know what I mean!!! Good luck with the quilt, my nephews wife made one the same from her granddaughters first clothes. This is a good site for Lipodema, not sure about lymph, just open the English version. www.tillysmidt.nl We have good treatment for Lip and Lymph problems here, luckily.

I bet your granddaughter is spoilt with the others being boys! Mind you, aren't they all!!!!

I will get something done now, just had the stitches out of my finger and it looks better now!

Hello Lizzie, sorry to be late with my Welcome but we’ve been away in Orford in Suffolk in our Motorhome. I have 2 DS and 4 beautiful GS aged 6, 4, 3 and 1. Who we see and look after regularly. Both families live 15 minutes from us. I can’t ride my bike any longer as I have an autoimmune condition called Lichen Sclerosis it affects your lady bits and other below the waist area and is very painful with cuts, swelling, itch and is incurable. Any kind of rubbing or pressure is agony even clothing can cause discomfort. I like to walk though and get lots of pleasure from that.
