The only time I was in trouble at school was for missing hockey lessons.
To me PE was a total waste of my time. My friend and I decided that as we had double hockey last 2 periods of the day, we would just go early that day. Of course we couldn't turn up home early, so we went to the theatre coffee bar, one of our favourite haunts. We were not bright enough to realise that sitting in the (very large) windows maybe wasn't a good idea.
We actually got away with it for several weeks. Someone must have seen us and the PE teacher found out.I remember her being pretty and sweet, and unlike the other scary PE teacher. She was very clever,as she found the perfect punishment for us.
She summoned us, told us she was very disappointed in us, and that for punishment we would have to join the first years for hockey. We were 15 or 16, in the 5th year. We worried about this for days, especially me. The day before the dreaded day, the teacher summoned us again. She said she felt we had been punished enough, and that we were never to skip PE again. I still admire her for the way she handled that. And no, we never skipped PE again

Gemini - Oh what a clever teacher! But it must have been so tempting to escape to the coffee bar!

I thought hockey was the very worst torture at school, even worse than the cold communal showers!

badminton and table tennis are two things I just never got the hang of, I did play netball at school but as the tallest in the class in first and second year I was an asset. By the third year I was the shortest in the class and virtually useless as everyone towered above me. That was as tall as I got.......

He he Gemini. But me and my BF were cleverer than you. We slipped off every hockey afternoon before the coach arrived having hid our overcoats in a secret place just outside the school entrance. Then we took ourselves off to the same sort of places that you did. Rejoining the rest of the class as the coach returned. We were never discovered and got a 'satisfactory' on our school report for Games. We also did a fair bit of running practice using our legs to get away from creepy blokes who sussed out that we were hopping the wag.

As for sport, well, I hate organised games although I was reasonably good at gym. I love country walking however and my greatest achievement was to climb Kilimanjaro when I was 24. I also used to love country dancing but there doesn't seem to be anywhere which offers that as an activity these days.

Used to love games at school, not very fond of PE. I enjoyed netball and hockey but wasn't very good. I was a hopeless runner, couldn't run for a bus!

You were much cleverer than my friend and me, Minny, such planning

Problem with skipping games when I was at school, was that you could bet your life you'd meet an adult who knew you and your parents would know you were skiving before you got home!! Didn't stop us trying though!
Wasn't that keen on PE but I was in the 2nd eleven hockey team and got drafted into the netball team a couple of times. Over the years I've run( well jogged), played golf, tennis, aerobics, aquarobics, gym, swimming. With a very sporty GS I am called upon to join in whatever it is he's into...football, cricket, rugby!!
My claim to fame was completing the London Moonwalk,all26.2 miles in 7and 1/2 hours. Couldn't move for ages afterwards though and I slept for a week.
