Looks good Daisy! Have you tried doing washes for the sky,sea,land? Once they're dry you can add other colours or like your palm tree , then the sky would shine through. Or while it's wet, play about with adding other colours and moving the paper around to see what happens. Sadly with the latter you won't be able to replicate the effect again ( well I can't anyway).
I have so many 'experiments' in my folder!! Enjoy and don't be too critical of your own work!

Wee Granny, many thanks for the suggestions. I realised quite quickly that I should have done the sea and sky first, but I do need to practice washes and manipulating with different colours. I think I ought to have another go at this one - it's from a photo - and see what I can do with it.

Gem and Sum1, thank you so much for your encouragement. It's hard to like your own work I find, because I always think it could be better (which is certainly true) but a friend is encouraging me to look for what worked as well. So your comments are a very positive reinforcement for me. xx

Plant,yes I still go to art classes on alternate Fridays. Very good tutor and the class has grown in size, 6 of us now which is good as it mans we can carry on next term.
