Oh isn't that tedious Gem. I do hope it gets resolved soon.

Hope OH gets an appointment soon, and at the right hospital.

It's frustrating knowing you are going to be out of action for a while, but even more frustrating when you don't know when that will be.

I hope you know soon, Gem.

Hope your OH hears soon. Very frustrating not being able to make any plans.

Finally, we have a date for the correct hospital, after September! OH is worrying about things such as how to wash her hair ( more a matter of opening the shampoo and conditioner bottles) and putting a bra on. She will just have to ensure I am around!
A friend promises to go into the loft if needed during that time, as I don't go up there!

Gemini - I'm glad your OH has finally got a date for the op. How long will she be recuperating for? It's frustrating when you're used to being so independent, so I can understand why she's thinking about the practicalities, but at least she can plan ahead. She can get shampoo bottles etc that open at the top so she can leave them open. Bras - not so easy unless you have some pull-on sports bras. Buttons might be difficult too - and open-ended zips (I can't do those at the best of times!)

I'm sure you'll both be glad when it's all over and done with.

Daisy, I think it is 6 weeks with no driving, or doing anything involving the right thumb. I'm not sure how she will manage, frankly, as she will miss her golf, and isn't good at sitting around. I'm sure she will find ways and means of DIYing and gardening with just the left hand I've said I will drive her to golf so she can walk round with them, and enjoy the post game chats and lunches.

Hope op goes well for Oh Gem. When I broke my finger last year, OH had to fasten my bra for me and I avoided wearing anything with buttons!

I had an op on my thumb to remove a large lump a couple of years ago and the same applied, though it was more difficult as it had a huge bandage round it ( I'd had a carpal tunnel op at the same time!). I seem to remember it took about 6 weeks before I was back driving again though. As you said I was amazed at what I learnt to do just using my left hand and I'm sure your OH will be the same.

Thanks Enfys She has just texted to say they have drawn on her hand, so maybe it won't be too long.

OH went back for her follow up appointment today. All seems well, and she now has a smaller cast on, more like a fingerless glove. She should have more choice on clothes now. So many sleeves wouldn't go over the bigger cast!
She goes back in 4 weeks time.

Brilliant news Gem. I'm really pleased that OH is recovering well. Not long before she's back golfing.x
