    You wouldn't believe it ??

Since I came back from holiday last week I have felt rather poorly and noticed a swelling under my right ear going across to my cheek,I made an appointment to see my GP and she told me I had mumps so no wonder I have felt so poorly and achy.
All I can think of is that I have picked up infection via the air-conditioning on the plane, there where quite a few children on board,I have now started a course of antibiotics for 5 days so hopefully I shall stop resembling a hampster very soon.

Glamm, poor you. It's an unpleasant illness at any time, but much worse for adults I think. I remember my mum getting it when she was in her 80s and as neither me, my OH or either of our sons has had it we couldn't even go and visit her.

I dohope you feel better soon. Don't push yourself - get plenty of rest. Sending hugs (from a safe distance ) xxx

Mumps is horrible anyway but really awful, when you’re an adult. Glam, hope you soon begin to feel better and I think you’re right, air con is responsible for lots of infections. I had mumps when DS had it...he was 3 and I was 30, he was fine but I remember how awful I felt so I feel for you. X

DS1 had it when he was about 9/10, but no-one else in the family had it.

Daisy I went back to bed yesterday and stayed there most of the day I felt pretty miserable to be honest so tried to sleep the clock around.
This morning although still achy all over I feel slightly better,I am being well looked after by my John and have banned my DD from calling to visit just in case she gets a visit from her DGCs,they have both been vacinated but I'm not taking chances.
It looks like it will be chicken soup all the way for the next few days, good job I like it just can't manage the crusty bread.

Glamm - well done to your John for being such a good carer and provider of chicken soup. It's sensible for DD to keep away until you're out of the infectious stage.

                          Take care of yourself. xx

Well I can finally report that I am feeling such a lot better than I did this time last week.
John has been an absolute superstar this past 2 weeks he has fended off all potential visitors etc as I just couldn't face anyone or be bothered to talk to anyone.
To-day I am going out for the first time in 2 weeks just down to New Brighton to sit and have a coffee and a bite to eat so the fresh air will be a great change.
I have obviously had to cancel the date for the glucoma operation that was due last week and rearrange it for next month the clinic have been so understanding and told me to ring them in 2 weeks time once we know the infection has finally cleared.xx
