A really bad day! Police informed me I have been defrauded.

I appear to have been defrauded of £3000 from my business credit card.

The police rang this morning. I am the victim of theft along with 27 other people who were at this pub/restaurant on the same day.

I rang my bank hoping they would help. They did to an extent, BUT, because I had paid for a meal there earlier in the month, it has to go under further investigation.

I have a crime number, I have been told to email the bank fraud squad with specific information. I've done all this and now I wait to see what can be done.

Obviously I have been in tears. I've been on the phone for hours. Writing this email etc., and there is nothing more I can do. I'm devastated.

This has NOT been a good year at all.

Elisi, that is so awful. Why does the fact you had paid for a meal there previously have a bearing on this? I do hope it can get sorted out quickly, that is a large amount of money. So sorry for you and all the people concerned. Hope you have some good news soon. Xxx

Plant it is not a scam, I have the bank statement in front of me!!! It had arrived 2 days ago and I had not opened it a yet a I do my business banking at the end of every month.

Enfys, the fact that I had paid for a meal before could mean I was "in on the theft"....for example., I was in cahoots with the thief (the man who took my money worked behind the bar)....and that I would report a fraud to my bank and then when the bank paid me back, split the money between the thief and myself. That is what was explained to me.

Had we never been there before then it would automatically be repaid by the bank. I am under investigation !!! Thankfully he did it to 27 other people, 16 of whom the police are still trying to trace.

It takes time for the bank to establish all the details. But the 1st August come sup soon and if they don't establish it before then I have to pay the £3000 until they do.

It was money meant for our holiday (delayed because of OH's fall, our financial advisor for his services so we can purchase our own home again, and so on)

My legs are weak and I can't eat, WHICH IS A GREAT THING !!! Something good out of something bad I guess,

Oh Elisi horrible thing to happen it happened to us and BIL last year luckily ours was paid back immediately, I hate using my card I prefer paying cash but sometimes that's not possible is it and your card is so handy , hope it a all sorted soon xxxx

A horrible feeling when things like this happen. At first you can't quite believe it and then the shock sets in. OH had his card cloned at a local garage along with hundreds of others and then MIL had about £6,000 taken from her account by the Assistant Matron of the old peoples home. Sure you'll get your money back but still infuriating that you may have to pay upfront initially.

Elisi - You must be devastated, and feel as though you've been r***d. There are some incredibly evil people in this world, and the fact that the thief robbed 26 other people isn't much consolation. Why is it that innocent people can be robbed like this and then treated, in effect, as though they are criminals as well! It beggars belief.

I'm sure you're always very careful with your card, but it only takes a second for a fraudster to get your details, and it seems whatever security measures are in place they're never enough. Some friends of ours suffered a horrendous fraud recently - all the money in several accounts, and they were just days away from completing on the sale of their house, so potentially could have lost that too. The worry of it made my friend's husband ill.

I know you're a very strong lady but even strong ladies sometimes needs to shout, stamp their feet and have a good cry. Big hugs, dear. xxx

How awful you must be so shaken up about this,I hope they find the culprit or culprits it seems they have been rather busy at their evil deeds with 26 being investigated,I hope the Bank has the common sense to refund the amount quickly such a terrible thing to have happened,I never give my card to anyone now I always do the payment myself and never let my card out of my sight after a scare a couple of years ago again at a restaurant.I do hope you are feeling a wee bit better within yourself take care sweetie xxx
