    Pork chops - again!

OH and I had pork chops a couple of nights ago. We don't have them often, eating chicken, fish and veggie food more often.
However I am having them again tonight.

Our friend G chose a local pub restaurant for her birthday celebration meal. Seven of us are going tonight. All but one live locally so it makes sense to go there.
I was very unimpressed with the food last time we went, but it has changed hands so hopefully it will be better. I will keep an open mind.

My moan is about the very restricted menu! There are quite a lot of things on, it but no chicken apart from a starter or as a pizza topping, and no lamb at all.
I cannot eat beef or chili, so a lot of the menu may as well not exist as far as I am concerned. There is a lot of beef on it, in one form or another!
I could have had gammon, which I like, but a friend who ate there recently said it was extremely salty . I don't fancy pizza, and the last time I was there the fish and chips I had were inedible, I left three quarters of it. I hope they wouldn't be like that tonight but I'm not willing to risk it!
    So, pork chops again!

I have never seen a menu that doesn't have at least one chicken option as a main course. Another fish option would be good too. Or sausages!

Certainly very limited menu Gemini. I find pork a bit indigestible. Hope they have some chicken on for you.

Gem I often go for a vegetarian dish when we go out , I find a lot of places now have a limited Menu ,

We went out last week and I ended up with Fish and chips again as they didn't have the Salmon dish on they used to have
It was lots of Pasta , Pizza, Kiev with lots of garlic all I dislike ,
Everything has chips with it very little veg ,

Im not a great beef or lamb eater unless we go to a Turkish place they do lovely lamb on the BBQ , I will eat it then .

One place we go to do a lovely veg curry and a veggie tart , so I will choose that .

Hope you find something you like xxx

It will be pork chops ladies as we had to preorder owing to eating 'late' at 7.30!
One of our friends teaches music and her main hours are after school, so 7 .30 was the earliest we could do.
          I will report back.

            Enjoy your pork chops Gem.
It is unusual not to have chicken option though.

Gem, I sympathise. I always find it really hard to choose what to have, even when the menu's quite large. I might find one meat I would eat, but it's served with something like fennel which I don't like or with something in a cream sauce. Vegetables are often very skimpy - and I like lots of veg, preferably just still a bit crunchy not boiled to death.

I would have thought beef and chicken dishes would both be on any restaurant's menu. Is it possible to have a chicken starter with double portions as a main? I know it's too late for tonight, though.

I always think pork chops are a disappointment - often hard and tasteless, but I got some organic ones on the bone from the supermarket last week and they were quite nice. I wouldn't want them again for a few weeks, though.

                The meal was OK.
The pudding, an individual chocolate orange tart with vanilla ice cream was good, and so was the company 😊

Dare I ask how was the pork chop? So glad the company (the most important thing) and the Pud (the other most important thing) were good. xx

(I posted this last night, but it didn't "land" - our internet was all over the place, which is probably why we are now the proud owners of ONE banana instead of the 12 I'd thought I'd ordered from Sainsburys! )

Daisy the pork chop was acceptable, the chips which came with it dry and tasteless (OH said the same of hers which came with her burger) the mushrooms good, the peas not even present!

                      Enjoy that banana

Gem - that all sounds a bit underwhelming. What a pity. OH has had to go into the village, so he's getting some more bananas!

A friend was surprised when 6 kilos of bananas were delivered instead of the 6 she thought she's ordered Daisy! One banana won't go very far though!

I dislike chops of any kind! MiL always had lamb chops cooked for us when we visited and she always overcooked them. I finally said that I really didn't want a full meal when I'd been travelling and I'd just have a sandwich if I was hungry. Don't think it went down very well, but it was the truth!

Sounds like a place to avoid for any future meals Gem!

Chops of any sort are not my favourite, difficult to cook.
