WeeGranny - I never cared for chops very much either - my mum used to cook them to cinders. But the ones we had a few days ago were ok (not wonderful - just ok) and I buy lamb steaks instead of lamb chops, which I think taste better .

We actually both like chops! Lamb are very small and expensive though.

My gripe was with the extremely limited menu, meaning that the pork chops were almost my only option.
Ours at home would have tasted better!

Gem - it must be difficult eating out when the menu is so limited and your have dietary needs. I have a friend who is allergic to garlic and eating out is really hard. She had ordered lemon sole at the pub yesterday, but it came with a buttery sauce and the waitress had to go and check there was no garlic in it. The friend says her staples are fish and chips (check the batter!) and ham, eggs and chips. Even quite innocent looking dishes can contain the dreaded garlic.

Most places are better at offering vegetarian, vegan and gluten- / dairy-free options, but more obscure ingredients can be a problem. DS1 has to watch his phosphate levels because of the drugs he's on, and it's almost impossible to get a handle on this. I've found that cream can pop up in all sorts of unexpected places as well.
