Tonight we went to a Turkish restaurant recommended by DD1. The food was not remotely Turkish and very expensive. The waiting staff were excellent, and when our waitress asked how we enjoyed our meal, for the first time ever I told the truth, I was so disappointed. I spent some time living with a Turkish family In Istanbul in my youth so I still have some idea as to how it should taste. Every plate came out of the kitchen looking exactly the same apart from the meat/fish. Obviously it is aimed at the passing trade from the nearby station. Our waitress agreed with my comments, she was Rumanian!
The only other time I have complained (my steak tasted of fish!) we could hear the smashing of plates and shouting from the kitchen in the dining area!
Was it worth it? Probably not. The good people of my part of Essex won’t know any different. I just dread to think of what would have happened if I’d asked for Turkish coffee!
Moan, moan, moan...
