Most of you know that my only cousin recently died very suddenly, and we are gradually trying to sort out his affairs.
This morning we went into our nearest Waitrose to cancel his MyWaitrose account. The lady we saw couldn't have been more helpful or kinder, and she took the trouble to double check that the information she had given us was correct. We had some shopping to do, so she said she'd do that while we shopped. As we reached the checkout I saw her and went over to say we'd be back at the Customer Service desk in a few minutes. She said not to worry - it was all sorted out. As we were unloading our trolley she came back with a huge bouquet of gorgeous flowers for me, saying how sorry she was for my loss. I'm afraid my eyes got all leaky!
Of course, the lady had no idea my DIL1 works in Waitrose's head office, so when we got home I sent DIL a photo of the flowers and told her what had happened. She sent a 'shoutout' which I think goes all round Waitrose for this lovely lady.
Sometimes it's the totally unexpected acts of thoughtfulness that make a difference, isn't it.
