    Ovens

As most of you know over the past couple of years we have had several Ovens ,several had to be returned because they didn't fit or broke down after a few weeks ,
Had them in various price range also .

We bought a Neff hide and slide one 18 month ago for £799 thinking its Neff and pricey so should last ,
Well It decided to play up , would come to temp then turn off ,
Had two engineers out one put a new circuit board in the second found it was a broken fan , so when it got too hot the oven shut down for safety ,

Came out last week said would order a new part and to fit it yesterday ( Tuesday ) , got a phone call hasn't came in will fit it Thursday ( tomorrow ) .
This morning getting ready to go to MIL's got a email sorry it will be at least another 6 weeks before part comes in

So B rang Neff they admitted even then the part may not arrive so issued a refund through Curry's , and order a new one .

So off we went to Curry's to sort it out ,
Curry's had none in and when he tried to order one it said no orders were being taken as they couldn't get supplies off Neff coming from Germany .

So we had to go through all the options of a different make ,
Still most were out of stock and no date of any supplies , it was a nightmare

Anyway we have ended up with Bosch they had in stock and £50 cheaper so that was refunded back to our bank ,
They were very good I must admit they put it on express delivery for tomorrow at no extra charge

The man serving us spent over a hour going through as many as he could to get us one , even he was shocked how little they had in ,
He had been on holiday for two weeks and said he had no idea how bad things had gotten with supplies .

All we can do now if hope this one fits and it works

Its a bit frightening how things are in so short supply throughout the country .

MIL visit will have to wait till Friday now

Oma, I hope you have better luck with this one, I had a Bosch for years before I got this one, in fact it was still working when it went to the tip, a little ancient but working, this one is a Siemens which is good as well.

Thing was when we moved in after this house was built the oven the builders put in was a very basic cheap oven ,
It lasted us years never had a problem , we only changed it because we changed the hob and work tops ,
Wish we had kept it now , didn't do much but at least it worked

To be honest the older ones seem more reliable.

I have a Bosch and really like it , we left an identical oven behind when we moved , I would have taken it and the Bosch hob but my Daughter wanted me to have a new everything !

Oma - you really don't have any luck with ovens. But it's a bit frightening how the supply chain for all sorts of things is creaking. If you're just changing something because you fancy a new one, it doesn't matter so much - you can afford to wait - but when it something essential and it's broken it's a different matter.

Aggie - how lovely of your DD to want you to enjoy everything new. I'm glad your new oven is as good as the old one and you're still enjoying it.

Lizzie - shhhhh .... whisper that about your current oven. You don't want it to think it can take a rest now!

My DIL1 keeps trying to get me to change my very basic gas oven which is over 20 years old and does nothing but cook at a temperature it's happy with. But I'm hanging on to it for now!

Good luck with this oven Oma. That is a bit worrying that supplies are getting short

Good heavens Oma, you are unlucky with ovens!

                    Fingers crossed for this one

Got it all crossed for this oven Oma! Have you got an Air Fryer? DD2 who has inherited the gadget gene bought one. It seems to do everything. It would have been a boon back in the bedsit days. I had an electric ring first, then inherited a ‘Baby Belling’. 😬
I hope B has a sumptuous feast lined up for the new oven to cook. 😁

GM we looked at the Ninja ones in Curry's yesterday , my Niece has one and swears by it .
If we couldn't get a Oven we would most likely have bought one .

GM. I have an Acti Fry, same as an air frier, DS2 gave me it when he moved house and I do like it, I hardly have to use my oven now, just for cakes.
