    Caught!

We've been finding every morning that something has been in our garden overnight and has dug out several pots and even destroyed one side of our little rockery/water fountain. It was too big to be a mouse or even a rat, and I had suspected a hedgehog until some pots on a table were attacked.

Last night I woke up about 3 am and went to the loo. I never switch the light on, but suddenly the security lights came on in the back garden - we had a visitor. Curious to see who it was, I crept round to the spare room and there in the middle of the lawn was a really beautiful fox. It's either a very well-fed dog fox or a pregnant vixen and he/she was working round the lawn looking for worms, slugs etc, totally relaxed and not worried about the light at all. I watched until the light went out.

    Mystery solved!

I think this fox lives in one of our adjoining neighbour's gardens because I often see it going in and out of there when I'm coming home from dog training late at night.

    I'm glad it wasn't a rat!!!

    Aww, lovely Daisy!

Last night when coming home from babysitting we went to bring in the nighttime litter tray from the garage. Near the back door was a hedgehog! We put some Spike hedgehog food and a bowl of water down then left him or her to it. There are other bowls of water around the garden so it probably didn't need that.
    Nice to see it!

Mystery solved Daisy, even if he/she is spoiling the garden.

Gem we haven’t had sight of a hedgehog in our garden for ages. I wish we did. Years ago we had them much to our dog’s disgust. They rolled up and she barked and it was a real impasse until I made Topsy come in.

We get foxes and deer passing through from the woods but I can't remember the last time we saw a hedgehog. I know we have badger sets in the woods but fortunately they haven't dug up our garden. We did have moles once, I can't remember how OH dealt with them.

Hubby saw a hedgehog a couple of nights ago on the patio.
I had gone to bed so didn't see it.
We get an occassional visit from a fox.

Can’t remember the last time I saw a hedgehog sadly.

Grauntie - it is sad. We make life so hard for our wild creatures.
