I can remember always getting a new outfit for Easter and wore it proudly to church on Easter Sunday. I always had a little hat too, I remember one outfit in particular, I was about 10 or 11, a little pale blue skirt and jacket and a grey hat with tassels on it! When I think what dD and DGD wore at that age, but I felt so smart . We didn't have that many new clothes so it was a real treat. I do remember getting Easter eggs but long after the war had ended so rationing must have finished.

Now the GC are grown up I don't buy eggs but send the youngest one in Oz a small amount of cash for him to go and buy his own, Although this year I did give GS, the one at Uni, a bag of chocolate mini eggs and his is going to take them back and share them with his friends.

Enfys - When we were children I think any new clothes were more of an event for children than they re today. I can remember a lot of the clothes I particularly liked, and they were usually for a special occasion. People don't dress up so much now, though.

I didn't know it was called anything Oma!
Good Friday is when Jesus was crucified, and Easter Sunday when he appeared in a garden, and rose from the dead. I think the day in between was just a day of mourning and has no significance. I know a lot about the bible (for a non believer!) but far from everything, so I may be wrong, and if so I'm sure someone else will know.

Oma - I think today is called Holy Saturday. It's the last day of Lent, and I can remember my Catholic friends going to church for a vigil/Stations of the Cross. I'm not sure but I think the requirements for Catholics were changed when the Pope made other changes in something called Vatican II. That's very vague - but is all I know! I don't think other Christian churches had such strict observances, so you are off the hook if your family were Sally Bash.

Qwerty - hello dear friend. It's lovely to see you, and I'm so pleased to hear you are feeling a lot better. I hope you are enjoying plenty of Easter goodies as well, and my next glass of wine will be a toast to you. xxx

Daisy I think you are right about today or tonight being something significant in the Catholic church at least, When we came home tonight cars were lined up along both sides of the road near the catholic church at the end of our road.

Gem - perhaps it's one of the 'must go to church' occasions. There was a traffic jam round our catholic church when we came home from the allotment late yesterday morning. Usually there are only about 8 or ten cars there for regular Mass.

Hi Qwerty, so pleased too hear from you, please keep in touch dear lady.

Had a lovely day yesterday with all the family including the new addition, he was so good and the family played pass the parcel with him.
. GS2 brought his new girl friend, she is really lovely and we had a chat on Face Time with GD in Canada. Mother and father of baby E are very laid back and relaxed with him although they are short of sleep, I didn't get a cuddle, thought it best not to although my cold has almost gone, GS is very much a hands on father, I suppose they are more these days. My DD cooked us a lovely meal so a lovely day. Quiet day for me today family all going to be out, GD on a sponsored ride. DD and SIL watching her start and then going out to lunch. I wonder what is on television?
