I have a gold painted enamel star for the top of ours I must admit it is a bit squewiff and stands off centre,DS1 made it for me in his first year at Primary school and I wouldn't be without it,so this year it will be 37yrs old.

There does seem to be a lot of snobbery about these days regarding Xmas decs, I say go for what you love and like the best, our tree is actually a poinsettia tree 6ft tall and ready decorated and lit ,for some reason I always co- ordinate my wrapping paper to match my tree which is obviously red the lounge carpet is black so presents under the tree are wrapped in black and red paper, lots of candles a row of tea lights in votive glasses on the fireplace a reindeer on the hearth that dances and sing β€œRocking around the Xmas tree β€œ kids like it a xmas stocking banner in the conservatory saying Merry Christmas and a white twig tree that has led lights changing colour.
We had a fireplace last year in the tv room that had garland hung across it but alas it’s gone no fireplace now, so might hang it on the balustrade going upstairs , the more I write this the more I think this hard work πŸ˜’

        That all sounds lovely Qwerty.
Christmas snobbery is ridiculous, but I know it exists! Some people who have white lights look down on those with coloured lights I feel.

Two of my DDs would rather have their eyes poked out with sticks than ever have coloured lights on their tree. My mum feels white lights on a tree are an offence against Christmas

I had forgotten I gave the indoor fairy a major overhaul last time! She usually hangs about in trees. The outdoor fairy is quite snug but insists on being warm on the inside too! Check out the boots. πŸ˜‰ someone else must have the fairy with the leopard skin knickers.

GM - if that fairy isn't careful she'll catch her death having her chest exposed like that!
