Shem - did you ask the landlord why it was on display so early?

It is a pub chain so I don't think it would have been his decision. We tried to book for Christmas Day lunch out early last November and everywhere was booked. The penalty for ignoring Christmas until what seems to me to be a more sensible time!

Oh dear, Shem - It's really hard to keep Christmas (see, even I am using that word) to Christmas time these days when you have to book up so early if you want to eat out. All the pubs and restaurants have got posters up for Christmas parties, too.

We have had to book our works Xmas meal last month and the only date available for us was Wednesday 7th December so we had no choice but to book it,
there is no way I shall have any xmas spirit etc so early on in the month but we had to take that date or loose out altogether.
