Same here, Gem. I enjoyed the sheer spectacle of it and the way everyone seemed to be so well-rehearsed. The music was awesome. I watched most of the parade afterwards - it always fascinates me that all those different groups of people stay in step, although they did say that all the bass drum players have a mic in their helmets giving them a count-in to start playing and this keeps everyone in time.

I noticed one lovely little moment in particular. The camera was panning over the front rows of the congregation and caught Princess Charlotte and her Mum exchanging a little smile with each other. It was so sweet and 'normal'.

It was a pity, but I read somewhere that it has rained on every Coronation Day for over 120 years.

I watched most of it, DIL popped in for lunch and watched some of it with me. I love the horses and the colours.

Plant, did you see Princess Anne riding behind the gold coach? She looked so relaxed and was laughing and chatting with the person riding alongside her!

Yes she was very smart and relaxed. GD1 said they have one of those lovely black horses at the Horses Trust recovering from a dog attack in a park. I thought those beautiful Greys pulling the gold coach were beautiful.

Plant, I hope the black horse recovers from the dog attack. What an awful thing to happen to such a magnificent animal.

I enjoyed the Coronation concert last night. Windsor Castle looked like a fairytale castle with all the lights and the atmosphere in the audience must have been very exciting. Unlike several previous extravaganzas, I enjoyed virtually all of this one, although I did wonder why most of the 'stars' were American. Bryn Terfel and Andrea Bocelli were the stars for me - their voices together send shivers down my spine. There's such a contrast in their styles - Sir Bryn looking as though he's just wearing whatever came first out of his wardrobe, and Andrea looking smart and dapper. But when they start singing - well, what a combination.

It was also lovely to see glimpses of little Princess Charlotte and Prince George enjoying themselves - especially Charlotte who seems to have a good sense of rhythm.

I didn't realise until OH told me that the amazing light show after dark was done with drones.

This afternoon we went to a Coronation barbecue. The weather forecast wasn't great, and the actual weather was even worse! After sitting out in the sun yesterday, we found ourselves sitting in a wind tunnel of a marquee on a cold, damp, windy and drizzly afternoon that could have been February, not May!Fortunately there were enough seats for everyone to be in the marquee - except the man doing the actual cooking. He did a fantastic job with burgers, salmon burgers and huge delicious sausages, plus really nice salad and side dishes, followed by strawberries, raspberries and cream, and a celebration cake.

We had a glass of fizz to toast the King and cups of tea and coffee to thaw us out a bit!

The organisers has worked so hard and the atmosphere was fun and festive.

We took Eva with us, and she lay quietly under our table, unless anyone came up to make a fuss of her. I think some people were surprised she didn't try to beg at the table!

So, despite the weather, we had a lovely time.

What a shame the weather wasn’t great but at least you still enjoyed it ,
I thought the concert was lovely even if Katy Perry looked like a oven ready chicken in all that gold foil 🤣
A couple of singers I had trouble understanding but the atmosphere was wonderful ,
I read Prince William said the king had a sore neck from wearing the crown and it weighs over 5 lb , no wonder his neck was sore .

Oma, so that's what Katy Perry reminded me of - an oven-ready chicken. Priceless!

We watched the concert last night and loved it.

I agree about Katy Perry's dress!!
