    What a good idea Daisy
I know we are looking forward to it , banners ,flag and baubles along with pinwheels bought to decorate outside.
I wouldn’t go as far as camping out for a week like I have read some people are doing though but each to their own 😁

Oma, exactly what i thought about camping out for a week.
I think we are going out this coming Saturday, but i will record it.
Hubby not interested in watching it.
I was only 2 when the Queen was crowned,so obviously don't remember it.
Might not get another chance to see another coronation.

We haven't done any preparation and don't plan to really. We don't feel enthused!
I'm sure we will get into the mood on the day with the ceremony of it all.
We have GS2 that night and I'm not sure how early in the day he will be arriving, so that may influence how much of the live coverage we watch

It's history in the making though so we need to see it .
The late Queen was crowned before I was born.

I remember the late Queen's coronation quite clearly. I was 10 a couple of days before her Coronation, and had lots of Coronation themed presents. I particularly remember a couple of books about the history of coronations and one had pictures of the various coaches and other artefacts. Another had pop-up scenes which were very exciting in those days. We had a minute tv - black and white of course, and although the shop was open various people were coming and going all day watching for a few minutes while they collected their bread or milk or whatever.

Do you still have the books Daisy? They would be worth a lot nowadays!

I was going to ask the same thing.

I agree, they might be interesting to get them valued, I imagine they are to precious to part with. Have the GC seen them?

I was standing on the route with lots of school children for the late Queens Coronation and saw the procession, it was a wet cold day unfortunately.

No, I haven't still got the books, I think my Mum had a good clear out when we moved from the shop. I have still got a dainty bone china Coronation mug which my Granny gave me, but that's all.

Plant, did the weather put a damper on things or were you all excited about watching the procession?

My friend T showed me his Queen Elizabeth 11 Coronation mug yesterday, and the King's which had been his mother's.

Travelling up to London was exciting Daisy and it was lovely to see all the beautiful coaches in the procession. The Queen looked so tiny in her coach. When they announced that Hillary and Tensing (sp) had reach the top of Everest an enormous cheer went up. I am looking forward to watching on Sat but I will be on my own. Must bake some scones. I could go to the village hall and watch it but I would rather watch it at home.

Plant, it must have been very memorable. You were lucky to be there to see the procession in person.

We watched until they were travelling away from the Abbey in the golden coach. GS had arrived by then so we couldn't really watch properly, though he did watch with us for a while.
We can catch the rest later .
History in the making and OH and I enjoyed our morning watching it unfold.
