Bon Marche seems a good place to shop for trousers. I've never been in there, but I've just had a look online and there's plenty of choice of sizes and fittings.

I was in Asda the other day and I brought a cream jumper. ( Stay with me on this one , I will get round to black trousers) .
The jumper was a little longer than I normally buy but I thought what the heck, in for a penny and all that . When I got home I tried the jumper on and it came to my knees! It made me look 4ft tall and 5ft wide . Not a good look on a long legged, ultra slim woman..... oh ok , what I really mean is not a good look on a short older woman carrying more weight than she would like .
Back to Asda I went to exchange the jumper for something more ideal only to find that they are in the middle of a referb and lots of clothes were haphazardly hung on rails in a complete muddle. Attracted by the bargain price I delved in and managed to get two tops, a pretty blouse and a black and white checked top and a pair of....yes you guessed ...a pair of black trousers at the knock down price of £7 . They fit like a dream , nicely fitting on the waist and hips and not to narrow on the legs but no at all baggy. ( If you have baggy legs like me there is absolutely no need to have matching baggy trousers is there )
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

I managed to get 4 tops in JL yesterday as I was looking, not for black trousers, but a navy skirt! All on up to 70% off rail. Also found a nice pair of navy wedge heeled shoes in New Look for £7....too good a bargain to miss! Navy skirts seem to be in short supply at the moments

Just looked at an email from M&S, lovely shoes to go with your trousers ladies. I think they must have a new buyer.

Well done, Mimi and Wee Granny.

My exciting purchase this week was a plain navy t-shirt in Sainsbury's for the extortionate sum of £4. I really should have waited for the Sale!!!

I really hate clothes shopping. I'm an unbelievable 5st overweight & refuse to buy too many oversize clothes. I want to wait until I've lost those extra stones before I get anything new. I have sizes from 14 upwards in the loft. I miss wearing jeans so much.

                  I'm pleased you've all got sorted though.👏👍

Navy trousers from M&S fit fine, quite lightweight which is good. I am a little concerned that the fabric might be static, haven't had time to check that yet.£25 is a good price. I pay nearly £80 for Gerry Webber trousers.

A couple of years ago I bought a very nice pair of wide leg trousers from M&S, thinking I'd get with the trend for them, only to find I'd got nothing to wear with them - tops of the right colour were the wrong length or shape (or both!). Today I wore them for the first time, with a patterned stretchy top I bought in Sainsbury's a few months ago, and a raspberry pink cardigan I'd got in EWM - an impulse buy which I'd not worn because of it looking 'wrong' - either shape or colour - with everything. So I was quite chuffed to have put together 3 things that could have ended up in the charity bag. Then I added, as I commented in Chat, black high heel ankle boots that have nearly crippled me!

The trousers weren't black, by the way!!!

I did buy some black trousers ladies just not very smart ones, these are loose with skinny bottoms I’m still not sure, they are fine at the bottom as my legs are slimish but the tops of the trouser legs are quite baggy I find the whole thing a nightmare , we don’t have a Bon Marche near us just one at the local garden centre but it’s small and not much choice in sizes , the next time I see some smart black trousers I’m just gonna buy em 😡👖
Thanks for all your effort into this thread it’s been interesting ladies

Qwerty - I have a similar problem - trousers that are supposed to be slim fitting are too baggy round the tops of my legs. I'm an apple, and I think most clothes are made for pears - or boys!
