    Have you ever ???

Fancied doing something totally out of character to your appearance? I have had the hankering for a good few years to become a red-head and the more I think about it the more I am tempted
the only thing stopping me is the condition of my hair may suffer (thats my excuse anyway) and if I didn't feel confident with the change it would be very difficult to reverse,I was thinking in the colour ways of Janet Street Porter a really vibrant red also I think my hair would need to be shorter to carry off the colour and I don't really fancy having it cut.Has anyone else fancied a
colour change and do you think it would change people's perception of us.

I used to colour my hair, but haven't done so for about 2 years now.

I can remember when I was in labour the first time, the midwife came, and said is that your natural hair colour(I was a redhead at the time) told her no.She said natural redheads tend to curse, shout and complain more during labour.
No offence to any redheads on here.

Glamm - I regularly used to change the colour of my dark brown hair. The grey started showing when I was 18 so I could make it look different with a fairly light colour, or with a darker one. I never used permanent colours - just temporary rinses. I don't think it affected the condition of my hair, but I was a whole lot younger then. Why not try on some wigs to see if you like the effect before doing anything drastic? It's great to have a different look from time to time.

Being dark haired with dark eyebrows I couldn't ever try blonde. I have always been glad to be dark, but maybe would have liked to try blond once, just to see if people really do treat you differently All my DDs are dark and none of them have tried lighter either. I would have loved red hair, and have often used a dye with red tints.
I seriously toyed with the idea of one discreet tattoo in my late 40's. In the end I went off the idea, and have no desire to have one now. I'm a wimp, so I don't think I could stand the pain!

My hair was quite red before I had chemo. When it grew back it was a horrid flat brown so I regularly have colour and highlights. My greys come through like a hairband, I would love to have salt and pepper and would let it go grey naturally if I had that! Gemini I too thought about a small tattoo somewhere not too obvious but as I am scared of needles I decided it was a step too far......

If my hair would look beautiful white, like Daisys, I would let it grow that way. Or pretty salt and pepper like Plants. I would just look like an old witch with grey and brown combined!

You are not an old witch Zizi I am letting my grey through now as it is white like Daisy's and I quite like it. Not sure how long I will keep it up, I may give in and have it coloured, but only a temp colour not permanent. Wigs are a great idea, it if you have a shop you can go and try red wigs on just to see, we have one in town and it is worth looking.. In fact I have a few wigs and do wear them. I had the most appalling haircut last September and have not been to a hairdresser since!!! I was distraught and used Zizi's recommendation on the other site, and it seems to work OK. I am growing it and when really awful I plonk on a wig

No you are not an old witch Zizi. I have hair going white, so I am letting it go that way (at the moment) I have fine hair which began to fall out after dreadful year in 2012, so I used Zizi's recommendation (on other site) and it does help.

I also wear wigs! If I have a bad hair day I whip a wig out! Not been to hairdresser since a local girl cropped me within an inch of my scalp in September and I won't ever go again! I really have had bad experiences with hairdressers, none of them seem to know a thing about how to deal with fine hair!!!

Gam, if you have a local wig shop go try on a red wig and see if it suits you first, or get a wash out colour!

Glam if you want it,go for it.It's always easily reversable I know I think I have been most colours under the sun. Why worry what others think,we are past all that angst I hope. Oma I'm blonde with tattoos.

I have grey hair, well almost white at the front, but a bit darker at the back. One of our neighbours, who is younger than me has really white(natural) hair, and it looks lovely.
By the way, I have 2 tattoos, but it's very rare they are on show.

Elisi was that about the special shampoo? I stopped using it about eight weeks ago, only because I can only get it at Boots by order locally and I haven't got around to ordering it. I noticed the other day that had alot of hair loss when I washed my hair, much more than I have since Just after I started started using the special shampoo so I am making an effort to get some more.
