    Your wardrobe

    What is your wardrobe like?
The clothes of course, not the actual furniture

Is it organised into colours, types of clothes and seasons, or just a mish mash?

Do you frequently sort through the clothes, discarding any you don't wear, don't like any more, or that don't fit you?
Or do you put them back, thinking you may wear it one day (even if you haven't for the last 7 years) or you may slim into it?

There is a degree of organisation to my wardrobe. Trousers and jeans are in one wardrobe, dresses, skirts and jackets in another, and tops in another. I have an extra wardrobe in the spare room. That is my 'changeover' wardrobe. In early summer I put my heavier tops and jumpers in there, moving the summer tops from there to my wardrobe in my bedroom. In late autumn I reverse this process, bringing the warmer tops into my room, moving summer tops back to the spare room.

I am not very good at throwing anything away, clothing included. I have to steel myself to do it. When I do, and give some away to the charity shops and anything too tatty put in the bin I feel better and don't miss the items. My instinct is just to return everything to the wardrobe though 'just in case'!

I seem to have a lot in my wardrobes, but not an awful lot that I actually wear regularly!

I posted in the daily chat yesterday, that I had sorted through my clothes.Believe it or not, I had a dress that I bought from Meadowhall when it first opened 26 years ago. It still had the tags on. Some of the items in my wardrobe were 2 sizes smaller than I wear now. I did put a few of my favourite skirts back, thinking one day I mght be able to get into them again.
My wardrobe is arranged by colour, dresses first then skirts, tops then trousers. My coats are in a wardrobe in Rosies room, but still plenty of room for her clothes. The middle of our bedroom unit is drawers, so we have 2 each.Top drawer is for my underwear, next one is for my t-shirts.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I am very predicable really as everyone who knows me well all know I only really wear black and white so my wardrobe is quite easy to manage really, black pants and leggings all hang at the bottom and tops blouses and sweaters all hang just above them on pull out rails coats and jackets are kept in the wardrobe in little room which OH has as his dressing room,I am similar to Gemini and swap over my summer and winter clothes every year,I do however clear out on a regular basis but tend to sneak in little gems which I may find at work, the things I can't through out are handbags I have my most favourite black leather bucket bag (1960's) but lots of others from Radley to Primark and most of them big enough to carry the kitchen sink.

I have a triple and a double wardrobe, in one are tops/skirts/ jackets and dresses. In the other are jeans/leggings/sweaters/cardigans/tunics. I swop over twice a year autumn winter stuff and spring summer. One lot goes up into the loft whilst the other is in use.Im quite ruthless if I haven't worn it in the last 6 months it goes into the charity bag. I have shelves in one of the wardrobes for t shirts/ swimwear/scarves and belts.

In theory ... I have 2 wardrobes with just short (ie not dress length) hanging space. I use one for trousers and jeans and the other for tops, cardigans and casual jackets. I have a chest of drawers for undies, t-shirts and jumpers. Then there are small drawers in my dressing table, which I'll just gloss over because I'm not quite sure what does end up in them. I have more hanging space in the guest room which is my out of season storage space, the another hanging space in my study, which is the only full-length one which has my 2 long evening dresses, one or two other dresses and stuff I somehow never part with.

And I swear, I have NOTHING to wear!!!!

The only good thing is that everything is colour co-ordinated. I had my colours 'done' many years ago and stick fairly closely to that so most things go with most other things.

We have a wardrobe each in the spare room. 3 sets of drawers in our bedroom of which I have one set. One drawer for undies & socks. My junk in the other two drawers. In my wardrobe everything is hung up & squashed in. Mostly jackets, tops, t-shirts & a hanger holding my scarves. A six compartment hanging thing for my shoes, sandals as I mostly wear trainers. At the bottom are two pull out drawers for handbags & weekend bags, hairdryer, foot bath etc.

I view clothes as necessity & hate clothes shopping. Just wish I could find a pair of jeans. Hard when you're 5'2" & are sporting a massive midriff. As long as my clothes are comfy & clean that's all that matters to me😉

You all sound so organised! I have the different height racks in my wardrobe but there is no order whatever! We have a room upstairs which OH racked out for change over and storage.
He is very organised but I never seem to be tidy. I can always find something I like better to do. I could go and do it now but I am halfway through making a necklace as well as here and then there's the ironing....🙄😉

SO I am going to try again.

I have loads of clothes (no surprise to any of you .) In my double wardrobe from left to right: long cardigans, dresses, tops, light jackets, trousers. Single wardrobe: long and short evening/going out dresses, heavier jackets, wedding dress sealed in holder, ironing board no I don't know what it is for either. Then I have two or three complete outfits in husbands double wardrobe. In my bedroom I have a large chest of drawers with four small drawers at the top: one for bits like buttons, needle and cotton, glasses repair kit etc. next one for hair things like bun rings, grips, slides, combs etc. then the good underwear for best, then bracelets - yes I have loads. Next tier is two large drawers, one has leggings (yes I have lots of them) and vest type tops, next one along is PJs, nighties, slips, swim wear and everyday bras. Next tier: tee shirts and long sleeved tee shirts, next to that husband has a drawer (yes I did let him!). Last tier is jeans and jogging trousers (no I do not jog) and then next to that husbands second drawer. In my bedside table I have two drawers of every day knickers and socks and the top drawer has stuff like birth certificates, passports, spare car keys etc. Husbands underwear and socks are in his side table drawers.

My shoes are mostly in pink and white shoe boxes but some are in the bottom of the wardrobe i.e. boots and trainers, handbags are in plastic boxes. Under the bed I have two plastic boxes with jumpers and tights in.

After holiday in November I put all my summer clothes in plastic boxes and put them in the loft, husband got them down yesterday so I can choose what to take in March. I have already put half of them in the charity shop bag.

I have to make the effort to go shopping for 4/5 maxi dresses for when we go to LV as it is going to be warm when we are there, the thing is I like my upper arms covered and that is a problem as I haven't seen anything available with short or even capped sleeves.

I know what you mean Glamma. Bon Marche do very nice, reasonably priced maxi dresses in their David Emmanuel range. I have a couple, but although they do several designs, all are sleeveless.
We need someone to design something slightly different!

If only Gemini,I have seen some nice stuff on Box2 lovely and flowing but lovely prices to match and the fact is I wouldn't be using them again really so begrudge paying all that money (I'm not mean just realistic) maybe there is an outlet for us to go into business and design for ourselves ps. I do love all the DE range at Bon Marche I always buy my 3/4 trousers from there as they fit very well.

GM - I absolutely MUST sort out my wardrobe and be ruthless - someday!!! As you say, there's always something else I'd rather do, although that list wouldn't include the ironing.
