I think it's a bit of cheek putting this under 'Poetry' as I'm sure any real poet would tear it apart, but a week on from Summer Time starting Eva is still looking for her dinner at 4.30. To her Summer Time is a load of nonsense, and she's actually convinced OH that it is time for her dinner an hour early!
I Wish my Dog could Tell the Time
Come Autumn time
There’s n’er a sign
That dinner comes before it should.
With nose aloft, she sniffs and seeks
Delicious beef or lamb completes
But, oh! the fuss
When Spring’s light nights
Bestow on us
An extra hour of bless’d daylight
The irate look, the pacing stance,
The hardest heart would have no chance.
The big brown eyes, the whiskers stiff
All clearly say ‘I’m in a miff.
My tummy says it’s time for food,
I have to say, I’m in a mood.”
“It’s just four thirty, mid-afternoon,
You don’t get fed nowhere this soon.”
Four-thirty doesn’t mean a dime
To a dog who cannot tell the time!!
“My body clock tells me it’s NOW,
My tummy rumbles are a sign.
I have no means to tell you how
But feed me, feed me,
Feed me NOW”
