They're lovely Oma. What about tapestry, the wool and canvas would be thicker so not so fiddly, although you'd still, have to hold the needle so maybe not such a good idea

Hobbycraft is a good idea Oma, we have one quite close to us now.

Oma - is knitting a problem as well, with chunky needles and Arctic grade wool?

You can even do arm knitting now Oma so no need for needles...just massivly thick wool of course😂 I'll have a think on this when it's not so late. Rug making?

Done rug making its too slow I like to see the finished article quickly , how I managed to stay focused on my cross stitch for almost a year was I was really looking forward to seeing them on the sofa otherwise I would have given up it was so slow and painful , I cant tell you how I felt when the last stitch went in
I did knit many years ag when the children were small loved knitting Arron jumpers and little cardigans with Trains and dollys on but who would I knit for now and could I hold the needles ?
I might take up Crochet again that's easy on your fingers you don't have to bend them so much .
This brings up lovely memories of my late sister , I tried learning her lots of crafts and she made a dogs dinner out of them all

Oma - If you find you enjoy knitting and it doesn't give you too much grief you can always find charities which are grateful for them - either to sell or to pass on to the people the charity serves. I wondered about crocheting - and you can make some lovely things. I had to smile about your sister - that would be me, too! I know the basics - knitting and sewing - but things never turn out right and I can't be bothered with the detail!

Oma. Hospital wards for Prem babies are always wanting extra small knits for their teeny tiny babies. I made some drawstring bags a few years ago to hang on the end of the prem's cot for dirty laundry, for the prem unit where GS2 was cared for.

Crochet is lovely to do Oma, but be careful, you can get "crocheters thumb" a form of rsi, I've had it and it's so painful. It's caused by the continuous action with your thumb as you hold the hook.

I have been doing some crocheting but only the basics, I can't imagine making anything other than a scarf or knee rug.
