    Engraved sheep's head.

This is the skull I was talking about on another thread. I carved a Celtic design into it using a dremell drill. It's an art used a lot in America. I would do more as I really enjoyed doing it, but haven't come across any more dried skulls.

    Nana, that is A M A Z I N G ! I haven’t seen anything like it before. If I ever find a dried skull I know where to send it!
You are a very talented lady.
Dremell still in it’s box here. πŸ™„

Nana - I can't even imagine how you start to create a design like that in bone. It must be in danger of shattering with every piercing. Since the BSE crisis there aren't many skulls about!

You have got so many different talents, my flabber is well and truly ghasted.

Grauntie - we'll let you off if you're not feeling great. But keep us posted when you do start to use your Dremel.

Thank you both. Any dried skulls welcome. Daisy I never thought about the BSE thing. So pleased I ghastered your flabber. 😲🀣

Nana - I think DEFRA regulations say that all animal brains and spinal chords have to be destroyed so they don't enter the food chain at any point, so I suppose the skulls go too.

Daisy a friend of mine holidayed on a farm years back & enjoyed walking the hills. He found a sheep who'd been dead a long time & all the bones were clean & sun bleached. He said he immediately thought of me & put it all in a cardboard box.

Really beautiful Nana, so intricate. So much work must have gone into it.

I myself wouldn't like to have a skull around as decoration, but I can really appreciate the beauty of it!

I feel the same as Gem.I admire the craftmanship but afraid I find it rather creepy.

I did the same with Egg shells anything from Quail to Ostrich ,
Dremell's are wonderful , and yes same with egg shells the dried bones are quite fragile , you would think they would be robust but put a electric drill on and make the wrong slip and that's your work ruined so Nana did a fantastic job ,

Nana have you looked on line for them ? My Sil has several not cut just for decoration ( she's odd )

My DD would love that she's odd too ,
Clover I can see the creepy aspect but they are a work of art when you see the work that goes into them
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Thank you for your comments. When I was at College doing my degree I was well known for putting opposing forces together especially beauty & objects considered as on the 'dark side' by some. Don't worry Gem or Clover I won't give it to you for Christmas.πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

Oma I think I would get on well with your SIL & DD. I don't look at it as weird but different/ nature, life & death. I like art that makes people think. Thanks for the tip. I'll look online for another, depending on the cost of course. Have you any pics of the eggs you created? When you think about it our work was at both ends of the spectrum...Egg the beginning & skull the end. I can't imagine how you must have felt when you could no longer do it. Yet you still stay cheerful. I admire your strength.
