Toddler music group at an elderly care home

Some of you may have watched the very interesting TV programme last year, about a group of nursery children visiting a care home every week. The experiment did wonders for both age groups , especially the elderly.

My daughter takes GS2, who will be two next month, to a group at a care home in her village. They go on Mondays and it is a singing session with instruments. They hold it in the residents lounge, so any residents who prefer not to go, or who want to go back to their rooms when they have had enough, can do.
DD says the number of residents attending is going up each week. She tells me GS is very sweet and keeps taking toys and intruments to the people watching.
I know my dear dad would have loved this when he was in a nursing home. A lovely idea

That is what the elderly love to watch little ones enjoying themselves.
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

I would love it never mind those in a care home
Of course you will get the moaners but I think that's the best part holding it in the lounge , those that cant stand it or don't want to join in can go to their rooms out of the way .

A really lovely idea ,a lot of elderly people don't have contact with little ones and miss that feeling

I bet the residents are delighted seeing the little ones Gems I know I would I don't think you would get many people not attending it must be the joy of week to someone who doesn't get any visitors at all.
The little ones at our Sunday School are having an Easter Bonnet Parade at the local Nursing Home on Easter Sunday and are giving the residents all a creme egg each,I am taking GGD for the first time so will be busy next week making a hat that she may just keep on her head for at least 10 mins

Gem - that is a wonderful idea and I'm sure most of the resident love it. It's great for the little ones too - not all of them have grandparents around.

Gem - that's lovely, and he's clearly keeping them entertained.

If anyone watched Countryfile on BBC1 they may have seen a piece about alpacas visiting care homes. The gentleman who was interviewed near the end of the item was the father of a friend our ours. Sadly, he passed away a few days before his moment of fame was broadcast, but the whole visit and interview had given him much pleasure. The alpacas were so gentle and patient - and very well-behaved.
