    Crafty Grand daughters

When my GD1 was ill last year I taught her to knit - with very useful advice from some GRU Grannies. She's continued to knit small things like gloves etc, but has also taught herself to crochet. (Isn't YuTube wonderful!) She's made all sorts of things from clothes and bags to little toys and decorations. She has a steady market with friends at school and the local wool shop has featured some of her makes in their window. So she thought it would be fun to have a stall at the Christmas craft market held in a local museum at the end of this month.

GD2 didn't want to be left out of this exciting venture of course, so she has been making tree baubles using paint pouring techniques her mum has taught her. But her output is rather slow and she's worried she hasn't got enough stock!

Their mum has recently made a lovely range of mugs, coasters and tote bags based on her own paintings so she will take some of those, and I've offered to make some hanging Christmas tree decorations which GD can use to add to her stock. I think I will use pyrography to decorate the wooden blanks, but my first job today is to sand them to get a really nice smooth finish.

The market is outdoors, so we're keeping fingers crossed for a fine day!

Oh what a crafty family 😊

It's lovely to be able to create such things, and so nice to have a stall together!

I hope they sell a lot of their lovely things.

Daisy, that is very clever of GD to learn to crochet from YouTube, I have tried a few times and lost patience!!!! The items all look really good!

Lizzie, I'm sure crocheting must be fairly easy, but I haven't managed to learn either!

I tried a few idea out today for decorations, but nothing I'm happy with yet!

Wow! Fantastic. I feel sure they will sell well. As for crochet, I am making a β€˜squashed rat’ book mark , the pattern was free on Pinterest! It’s easy.
Well done to your DiL and GDs Daisy.

As I commented elsewhere, the nice day didn't last long for the GDs' Craft Fair, but their Dad grabbed a quick photo before the rains came.

Oma, GD1 definitely wants to do another one. Her mum has decreed though that it has to be indoors or in the summer! We were all a bit surprised at how well GD's crocheted snakes sold, they seemed to appeal to the 10- 15 year olds. Perhaps they are an acceptable version of a cuddly toy for young teens who feel too old and sophisticated for a teddy to cuddle.
