    Exam Results

It's been a tense few days in our GSs' house - both waiting for exam results.

Happily they've both got what they need for the next stage, although GS1 doesn't know what that will be yet. GS2 will go into his school Sixth form for A Levels. But they're both pleased/relieved it's all over and ok!

    So am I.

Thank you everyone. Yes, they've both had a lot to contend with besides Covid, isolating and online teaching etc which all the youngsters have been trying to cope with.

I am not sure where to post this, so, if it needs to be moved, do so. I went to DS1 yesterday afternoon and DIL had just been to the school for parents talk for GD2, as I have said before she has dyslexia, after this was confirmed she had special training etc and this is all accepted with the schools. She has now been placed for the high school!! I am so proud of her, my Dil can be proud as well, she had to do all the home training with her! She is going to a different school to GD1, both next to each other but different teaching systems, the one GD1 is in you have to work more alone and in the other it is more in groups. That isn't sure as yet but as DS1 said they think that will be the best choice for her.

                  How wonderful Lizzie!
Well done to your GD2, and as you say your DIL who has worked at home with her.
I hope your GD will be very happy at her new school.

Lizzie - that's great news. The right school for the right child makes a huge difference. I'm sure your GD2 will thrive in the high school and being able to work in groups will give her confidence to voice her thoughts, without quite so much emphasis on writing.

My GS2 is dyslexic and he was allowed to have a tablet/laptop in class and also had a little extra time in written exams and that support made all the difference to him - in fact his highest GCSE grade was for English Literature, which I'm sure he wouldn't even have passed without such support.

Very best of luck to your GD2. When does she start her new school?

Daisy, I am pleased to read that your grandson did so well! I know GD2 can do it, they do use laptops etc in class and she has the support she needs, GD1 has it as well but at a different stage and she works really well with it. She has the extra time for tests etc so there is support for them. She will start next September but now all the planning gets done.
