GD2 was very tired after her first day back at school yesterday. Mummy had picked up her and her sister, and I collected them from the shop. On the way home GD2 asked if I would help her get changed. Usually she's very independent and the routine when they get home is to take off shoes and coats and put them away, then go and get changed out of their uniforms. GD2 has totally refused any help with dressing or undressing for about the last 2 years. I said of course I would help her.
Once we were in her bedroom I asked her what she'd like to wear. "Anything" she said, so I popped a pair of leggings, socks and a long-sleeved t-shirt on the radiator, while I helped her get undressed. She was really surprised that the t-shirt was nice and warm when I put it on her, and when we put her leggings on she grinned from ear to ear, and warm socks were another surprise. I was kneeling on the floor with her. She stood up and just leaned into me, gave a huge sigh and all the tension went out of her tired little body, and my eyes got all leaky - from the cold weather, probably!!
