    Running a Three Ring Circus

It’s half term and my brain is frazzled and it’s only just gone 10am.

GD1 greeted me this morning asking for some sums to do. GD2 wanted to paint. I challenged GD1 to learn her 15 times table and wrote it out for her, with calculator in hand. GD2 was using new pots of paint, each one needing opening and a ver messy inner lid removed - that was was job, plus changing water, supplying kitchen roll and finding somewhere out of Cooper’s reach to dry each precious artwork as it came of the production line. By then GD1 wanted a more interactive maths game. One she’d played with her Dad. Doubling numbers, so, 2 + 2 = 4, 4 + 4 = 8. Etc. Apparently she can do this to over a million. Out comes the calculator so I can keep up!

GD2 finished her masterpieces and went off to clean the paint off herself, and Cooper found a tiny rubber ball to choke on. I managed to stop that, washed the ball and returned it to GD1. By then GD2 was fairly wet so helped her to get dry. Then GD1 wanted to know what the square root symbol meant. I Googled it for her - my maths isn’t up to getting to the root of anything, Then removed Cooper from the dining room table where he was trying to drink the paints. Then sorted out the tv which GD2 wanted to watch but the tv insisted it needed to do updates.

Ive bought a few minutes peace by dishing out chocolate to the girls and am playing ball in the garden with Cooper. 😰😰😰

Just a few minutes later ... back inside and both girls occupied on their Fires I dash to the loo. “Grandma, Grandma,Grandma ..”. Each shout more frantic than the last! Cooper had climbed on the table again and spilt the painting water all over a chair, cream linen! Well, it was. I thought you could get the cover off, but I was wrong! Excuse me, I’m off to bang my head against a brick wall. 😰

Edit. No time for such luxuries GD2 has just squeezed her squeezy fruit, the red one, on the living room carpet and Cooper has put his paw in the foamy carpet cleaner.

    Agggggghhhhhh! 😥😥😥

Gem, I think the word is “rescued” !

Sunshine, it is wonderful, even though this is one of those days that make you wonder if you’ve learnt anything about children, or dogs, over the years. 😰. They’re out on their scooter now and I’m watching through the window.

Will you have have a chance to see your GD or Gs2 during half term?

I so feel for you 😪😪😪 love em as we do It’s too much and your a tad older than me 🤔
Please don’t bang your head against a wall you will only have a headache on top of all this, or maybe even A&E and can you imagine taking two kids and a dog there.
I used to leave them to themselves and go and lock the bathroom door and hang my head out of the window and but that was when I had all three lol
Can you listen or watch any of your mindfulness tapes etc guess not, only solution is a big glass of wine but you will be driving home Daisy I think your snookered 😱

And so it goes on for you Daisy. Not even time for a quick coffee let alone a loo visit. Cooper is as mischievous as a toddler When they are poorly you wish they were back to being like this so in the world of chid care you just can’t win. Hope you survive and your back is up to the challenge.

Oh Daisy I couldn't help but smile. The way you've written your account of child/dog care is so funny. Bet you're exhausted now. Feet up after dog training.🍷

Yesterday continued in much he same way! I managed to keep the girls and the dog entertained in the garden while the plumber mended the cistern. He's a lovely chap, but for some reason looked a bit worried when this donkey-sized puppy wanted to give him a loving cuddle round his neck! Back in the house for a snack - a major requirement for GD2 who is having a growth spurt - and then back into the garden for more energy-soaking scootering. But not for long. Screams and crying! Somebody had kicked her sister, somebody had stamped on her sister's foot. Now, generally these are lovely, polite little girls and I had no idea who had done what, so I sent them off to their bedrooms for a bit of quiet time! Clover - I did manage a cup of tea at that point!!! The over-excited little monkeys disappeared and when they came downstairs again my two gorgeous little granddaughters were back! They then happily took turns on my iPad for about half an hour. I got lovely hugs and kisses when I left!

Dashed home, too tired to cook or eat, so made scrambled eggs on toast for OH, opened a tin of soup for me and then off to dog training.

Amazing! Eva was brilliant! She did all her heel work off lead, and several activities she's never done before. There were only 4 dogs there, so that helped I think!

Nana - I got home about 10.30 too tired even for a relaxing glass of wine.

Still, I've got a quiet day - a walk in the paddock for the dogs and that's it!

I think we need to send your dear OH on a cookery course Daisy! I bet you would like nothing more than a nice meal waiting for you between your childcare day and dog training!
