Zizi - good luck to J for the 14th. You can understand his dad wanting him to do well, and I'm sure underneath J wants to succeed as well. I hope he's not too nervous to show them what he can do.

You will enjoy a nice girly day with S. Have you got anything planned?

I have been given my orders. As it is Valentines Day we have to have red velvet cup cakes (I have never made red velvet cakes but here I go....). We are also going to “communicate”, I am using Sadie’s expression, about lunch which she has decreed should be a buffet lunch and should include breaded mozzarella sticks and dips if you please. I have spoken to other dil tonight and she is going to bring Ben for lunch as well.

        Red velvet cup cakes anyone?

Zizi - good luck with that, then. I've never made red velvet cup cakes. They look stunning though!

I meant to mention that we may have a budding footballer in our family after all! GD1 has joined the after school football club. She is very proud of the brand new football boots she got today. What surprised me though is that she is the only girl in Year 3 to join!

It only takes one girl to go back into class and say they had a good time and the others will try it. It won’t be for all of them but if they are given a fair chance and equal opportunity they could have a really good time if not get to the top which I suspect is harder for females than males. Good for her Daisy.

Zizi - we were all surprised! She's quite a girly little girl and doesn't like getting her hands messy, and then there's her hair which usually has to be 'just so'! If she was a teenager, she'd be a sure bet to be the last one out on the field because she was putting her mascara on!!! But she is quite competitive and doesn't see losing as a viable option for her!

Good luck to your GS too Zizi. My DD has made red velvet cake, it involves beetroot doesn't it?

Daisy, my GD was keen on joining the school football team since she was tiny, and too young to. I notice she hasn't done so and is 8 and in year 3 now, so maybe the urge has gone, LOL. She does have 2 karate classes a week though and at least one in ballet, tap and modern dance, so maybe just can't fit it in. I will ask.

According to the recipe I have found it can be made with special cocoa to get the colour, or beetroot or red food colouring. I haven’t properly looked into it yet i had better get my finger out methinks.

Gem - I think they sometimes go off the idea of some activites and they find out about other options. This term GD1 is doing football and animation!
