We're now the 'oldies' of the family and as we don't exchange presents with with my DB and wife( the next oldest!) I'm not much use! It was a nightmare buying for MiL when she was alive. Usually ended up with M&S vouchers because she liked to go there. FiL was in a home so we sent a large basket of fruit which could be shared. A nice blanket or throw or something to put round her shoulders to keep her warm might be an idea Gem.

Just catching up on this thread and to my dismay I find that myself OH are the older generation. We are the oldest in the family circle that presents are brought for !

When mum mum was alive I brought her a 12 month subscription to her favourite woman’s magazine, also did the same for MIL.
For dad it was a bottle of port and later as his sight failed some audio murder mystery stories on cd. He was able to sit and listen to the stories while sipping a glass of port.

One of my Dads nicest presents was a bottle of Port, for his last Christmas, from one of my daughters I think. I would pour him a little glass every time I visited him in the nursing home. He died on February 16th that year, and made good inroads into it, and enjoyed, while he was still here

A bottle of very nice Brandy would suit me fine.
