Yes Daisy that is just what I was thinking; I am usually treated as an overanxious old lady by DS2 when I express any concerned about anyone. I feel that if anything happened and I didn't say how I felt I would always wish I had. They have the responsibility of two young children to consider and putting themselves in any unnecessary danger seem reckless to me. We have heard no more and the Bruges trip so I am hoping it has died a natural death. I am not brave enough to ask though.

BL - let's hope they've abandoned the idea. Apparently there are reports that even in the UK many shopping malls, city centres etc are quieter than usual and you wonder if people are wary of going into public places like that. There were certainly fewer people than usual at our local town Christmas Fair today. It could have been the weather or the fact that the neighbouring town also had their Fair, but maybe people are being more cautious than usual.

The crowds were out in force in Cambridge today!!! I had to go to the library after church and I was glad to get out of it and catch the bus home! There was even a queue for the 10 o'clock bus into town and no shops were open then. Normally it's only a couple of people on the bus at that time. madness!

I'm the sort of person who says 'No' but there's also that other word which goes before it...'sorry'. My girls are understanding of my health situation so we come to a sort of compromise. I try to help in other ways...a huge amount of washing for the new baby coming (January...that's gone fast!) making meals for GS2 as his mum is now in full time work. When my two girls were small my mum lived in the North of the country & we lived in the South. I managed. I've said it before on here that our children chose to have their children later on in life ...their choice, but I doubt considerd how old we're getting. Why should they? It is ok to say 'No'.

Nan - doing washing, making meals etc is just as useful and I'm sure your DDs really appreciate it. I also bet there are times when you carry on even though you don't feel well.

WG - It IS madness. We really shouldn't start thinking about Christmas until about the 20th then we wouldn't have time to do so much and go to such silly lengths!!
