Mine did have new crayons which kept them absorbed for ages and they did lovely pictures for us . Then eldest one did 'make up' (she has her own in a drawer which I let her have) and I had to keep little one from that as she uses them to draw all over the walls! We had a lovely time!Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. T.S Eliot

Not too bad a day overall. GS brought his tablet and did some pixel art for the first hour whilst GD used her art book and pencils to be "creative" as she put it. She also loved the crosswords which I had printed off for her - I found a site that gives lots of word puzzles for all ages. I ended up printing a lot more for her throughout the day. We managed to get out to the town for an hour to get their Mum a birthday card and take my shoes to the menders. We watched a two hour long film in the afternoon and their Mum turned up at 5:00 to collect rather than 6:00 which was nice. All this plus breakfast (croissants and porridge) elevenses, lunch and afternoon tea, the time went fairly quickly. They loved the Cadburys cream egg cakes and spent the two hours before afternoon tea trying to guess what they might find in the middle of them. Was it cream, golden syrup, caramel, the suggestions went on and on. Oh yes and I had bought GD a kit to make necklaces and bracelets from those edible beads which she did and then gave one to her brother, one for herself and also made one for her Mum. They had eaten theirs before the end of the day though!Be careful when blindly following the Masses.

I took Plant's advice too and opened a nice bottle of white wine when they left. I ended up feeling quite pleased with the day overall (the wine helped with that) although for some reason I was very tired.
This is the link to the site I used Gem - lots of choice: http://www.puzzlechoice.com/pc/Kids_Choicex.html

BL - I think you all had a great day! Well done that Grandma. I think sitting down with them and watching a film together is a lovely thing to do, and something I haven't managed yet."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "
