Had cuddles this evening but he is so small and fragile. They only got home about 6 this evening, no food so we went down to see him, DD fetched food whilst I had a cuddle.I hope they have a good night.

Not a good night, DD made them a shepherds pie. Unfortunately too many visitors, some stayed too long, perhaps this week will be quieter and they get to know their little one. Went to JL to buy him some small size baby grows, he is going to be the best dressed baby in town. He had his eyes open today, looking around.

Glad baby is doing well but it is a shame that the family was a bit overwhelmed with visitors. It's understandable that everyone wants to see and hold the little one but it's very tiring when a lot of people descend

Plant, I hope Mum has had a better night and both her and baby got some sleep. My DS1 and DIL requested no visitors for the first few days when both theirs were born. Grandparents had one brief visit each and a quick cuddle, but otherwise they just spent the time getting to know their new baby. I think there were some family members who were a bit put out, but I thought they were very sensible and it gave DIL a bit of time to rest and recover from the birth. It's easy to forget that in our day new mums were often in hospital/maternity home for a week or so, especially with a first, and were looked after 24/7. It's very hard when they go home so quickly and then have to 'entertain' visitors as well.

I bet you enjoyed your shopping trip. Small newborns often look swamped in first sizes, and I bet your baby gros will be very welcomed.

Daisy I so agree with you, he is feeding so often and needs quiet,. I went to see him for a few minutes but on Sat. his other GGM was going to see him but she had to wait until 8 oclock as mothers family of six were there since 3 p.m. DD just popped in with food for them. I hope they have some peace this week to get to know their young man.

I agree Daisy and Plant. Now mothers are sent home after a few hours, there is no official visiting time, so people can turn up at any time. Families need some support in the early days, but not a stream of visitors who won't leave. Of course however it is natural for family and friends to want to meet new arrivals as soon as possible!

I hope the family soon settle in Plant.

Plant what wonderful news and welcome to the GGs club they are so tiny aren't they when you first hold them and don't they just tug on your heartstrings xxxx I hope mum & dad get rest and that the visitors let them ease themselves in quietly its delightful going to see a new babe in the family but not everyone realises how much of a strain it is on the parents having to look welcoming all the time when all they want is to put their feet up and rest poor things. It is a year now since my GGD was born hasn't time flown she is walking and saying mama & dada she is such a chatter box (a bit like me really)

Thank Glammama, mum dad and baby have been here for lunch today, babyE was very good, he feeds and sleeps all day but not so good at night, he is gaining weight. We are all besotted with him, he is the first baby in the family for a long time and yes he certainly pulls at ones heart strings.

How lovely Plant, I can imagine how adored he is

My GD, when she arrived 7 years ago, was the first baby on our side for 21 years, longer on her dads side, so I know what happiness they bring.
