last time we came to this camp site the weather was awful. It's even worse today. We knew today would be wet but this is ridiculous. Too stormy to walk 100yds to the camp shop to get wifi. Phone reception isn't great either.

I hope Eva doesn't expect a long walk tonight 😨😨

We're back home, in the land of proper bathrooms, central heating, wood burner, and, best of all, hot water!!!

What a week! After my brief post aat the beginning of the week things just got worse and worse. Every time we put on the central heating or water heater in the van it fused the main power source outside. An electrician came and checked it and pronounced it a 'bit sensitive' and at only 10 amps wasn't coping very well. Well, short of moving the van - quite a big job, and with no guarantee of a more reliable electricity supply in a different plot, we decided to stay put. But I did wish, every day, that I'd taken a warmer jumper! I shall not listen to OH next time he says 'don't take too many clothes'. You can't have too many clothes when it's cold an windy!!! Fortunately the shower blocks were heated and the showers nice and hot. The weather totally knocked out the wifi and phone reception was at best one bar for a few minutes at a time. I tried every day to get online, but gave up exasperated.

The wind was driving in off the sea every single day (and night!) and it got progressively colder as the week progressed. Wednesday was nice and sunny and we had a good day out at the Abbotsbury Sub-tropical gardens (the plants were sub-tropical, not the weather.) And the evening stayed nice too so I went to East Fleet old church to take some photos. this is the church featured in the traditional children's book, Moonfleet. I haven't read it but a friend was telling me about it - it was set in that area.

On Thursday we managed to dodge a few showers and went to Weymouth, and even had fish and chips on the beach (but by then it was raining again!)

Yesterday, we managed a good walk along the coastal path with only a couple of showers, but on the whole it's been dismal. As all you dog owners know, whatever the weather, the dog needs walking, so I've been out with Eva at least 6 or 7 times a day, mostly in a howling gale and often in the rain!

Despite all that, we've had a lovely break, and used the bad weather as an excuse to laze around reading, etc. The pub on site came in very handy in the evenings and although they didn't do food, the would order a Chinese for you and provide plates and cutlery. On various nights there were stalls doing pizzas or fish and chips, so I've done very little cooking.

Time to plan our next trip, I think.

Oh you were unlucky Daisy with the weather and the problem with the power, I do hope it hasn't put you off. Do you have an awning, at least they are useful to put wet coats and shoes and to dry off the dog.

No, it definitely hasn't put us off! Yes we do have an awning, which we couldn't put up until Monday afternoon because of the wind. It's a blow up one and on Wed it sprang a leak in one support. It looked like a blow up doll after the party's finished!! OH managed to fix it, but it was too cold and windy to sit our there for breakfast or with a glass of wine in the evening.
