Gem - we booked a trip to the House of Commons for later this month, the very day before the Westminster Bridge attack! We're still going, though.

Love Norfolk. Had my birthday there and it rained solidly, heavy rain for 3 days Love Devon too and Cornwall. When they are good they are very very good, but when they are bad (weather) they are horrid!

We recently booked a week in Northumberland for this month. Just keeping fingers crossed for reasonable if not good, weather!
I am going to book a couple of days in London for later in the year too. I bought (with Tesco points) senior railcards for each of us, and apart from my Birmingham trip we haven't used them at all this years, so we need at least one London trip!

Well I am going away in September with my bestest friend, just from Monday to Friday. Last year we went to Butlins at Bognor and had a great time. But this year my friend wanted to go away but not far from home (she has many health problems and doesn't want to be far from home)... So, she lives in Colchester and I am in East Bergholt (border of Suffolk and Essex) and we are going to.............Clacton on Sea !!!!! We have booked a caravan in a small holiday park about five miles away. Neither of us can walk very far now age has crept up on us both, so we are hiring a scooter each so we can get out and about.... We are both looking forward to getting away for a few days, we will have fun, so we reckon it doesn't matter where we go, its still a break from home , we enjoy each others company and have some real good laughs (both have a real good sense of humour).....So Clacton, watch out, we're on our way in four weeks time.

Mamma-mia, a holiday is a holiday, no matter how close to home
The scooters are a great idea. Have fun!

Ha ha Gemini, your scooter pics made me smile.. And yes Plant Clacton is reasonably flat, we will be able to whizz along on our scooters. Mind you I probably need 'L' plates on mine. We had scooters though last year at Butlins and we were able to get into Bognor town centre quite easily, so hopefully it will be the same at Clacton. We have both had our fair share of looking after grandchildren so to get away will be lovely. We have booked our holiday for the week after the children go back to school after the summer holidays, so almost child free.

Mamma-mia - that sounds great fun, and I can just picture you and your friend whizzing along the seafront at Clacton on Gem's little pink scooters.
